Last night, I joined @SenChrisLarson at @OCFSD to discuss education, funding, and how we should prioritize our budget. The vast majority in attendance agreed with my budget proposal of increasing the Special Education reimbursement to 90%, supporting our students and schools!

Educators, not politicians, are the experts in child development and learning. I stand with educators, who have dedicated countless hours to ensure that assessments align with the current needs of students and the realities of classrooms – which is the purpose of Forward Exam.
Michelle was one of nearly 100 educators who dedicated her time to a transparent standard-setting process last year. It was imperative educators like Michelle had their voices heard when it came to having a more meaningful assessment for students.

Rather than empowering local districts, GOP legislators are imposing their control over classrooms, dictating every move and actively undermining public trust in our teachers and education system.

Afterwards, I was able to check out the high school and see more CTE courses like metal working machines, welding, early childhood education, and even made a special friend in the agricultural science class. I can't wait to come back!

February is Career and Technical Education Month - the perfect time to recognize the transformative impact CTE programs have for our students. Yet we must also acknowledge the need for equitable access to these critical programs across the state.

February is #CTEMonth and a reminder that my 2025-27 biennial budget proposal includes supporting schools in creating, implementing, and growing CTE and career pathways available to students. These programs prepare students for the workforce and a future career out of school.
