The last watch party of the regular season is here! (But don't worry, we still have the playoffs 👀) We'll be at
@rpublichouse
on Sunday, Oct 20 to watch
@chicagoredstars
take on the Washington Spirit at 4pm! See you there!! ❤️🩵
Our expectation was that each Red Stars player would actively and without reservation support their Black teammates & supporters and choose to kneel during the anthem. We do not see the choice to stand as acceptable. We hope players who chose to stand will re-examine that choice.
it's pride month. it is disrespectful to pretend her actions were anything less than homophobic & transphobic. call it what it is, and deal with it appropriately.
After the draft we discovered some now-deleted social media posts from one of Chicago’s 2021 draftees, Channing Foster. These posts were unequivocally racist and hateful and we had hoped that she or the Red Stars would address them without our urging.

We are prouder than ever tonight to support Casey Short's team. We are prouder than ever to support Sarah Gorden's team. Casey's vulnerability tonight was powerful and deserves our respect and deference. Our job is to honor it with continuous action toward positive change.
This weak statement does not address that white players & their loved ones were allowed to violate rules with impunity but a Black player’s partner was threatened with arrest.
@nwsl
Congrats to NCC. We had a nearly perfect season and we love the Chicago Red Stars more than ever.
Thank you for supporting and showing the world that Chicago is behind this team.
Ten years in and we can’t wait to see what the next ten will bring.

Chicago Local 134’s statement on the front shirt sponsor for our opponent on March 16, Utah Royals. We recommend you listen to Andre & Courtney’s full discussion of in the Diaspora United episode, Live, Laugh, Learn [W Gold Cup Chaos & NWSL Kit Talk], beginning at 49:57.
Our first priority is always the safety and health of our players. Red Stars players past and present have always deserved a safe environment that values their humanity above all, as well as transparency and chasing forward progress.
This year, Local 134 is implementing an “I’ll Go With You” community ally program for the comfort and safety of trans or genderqueer members of our community who may be uncomfortable in gendered spaces, like multi-stall bathrooms.

The biggest impediment to the success of the NWSL is the management of its franchises that consistently goes out of its way to make supporting the clubs difficult at every opportunity
From what I've heard, security was there and willing to remove whoever shouted the racist/homophobic abuse at Franch, but no one in the section was willing to identify who did it. Security stayed by that section to ensure it did not happen again.
The Chicago Red Stars, who currently rank No. 3 in the National Women's Soccer League, had 17,388 people at their game on Sunday. In their 2018 season, they averaged 4,368 people per game.
We believe the victims of former Chicago Red Stars general manager/head coach Rory Dames' abuse and condemn the culture of any organization that would allow Dames to wield power for any length of time much less the years that he held his positions of influence with the Red Stars.
NEW: A Post investigation found multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against former NWSL coach Rory Dames in youth soccer, including a player who alleged he groomed her and had sex with her once she turned 18.
"Nobody believed those teenagers."
okay, hey, for real

- there are so, so many other chicago storylines than mentioning the departure of one player 8, 9, 10+ times every match.

With a whopping ✨EIGHTY-TWO PERCENT✨ of first place votes, we are thrilled to announce that

This is so disappointing and frustrating. The Red Stars (players, staff, and fans) deserve better and while Bridgeview has never been an ideal location due to transit inaccessibility, we shouldn't be forced out by a festival when our schedule has been set for months.

In regards to ongoing league discussions, and in support of Spirit players' wishes, we reached out yesterday to the
@chicagoredstars
front office to implore the CRS reps on the NWSL BoG to support Y. Michelle Kang as owner of the Washington Spirit
We are always excited to welcome new Red Stars to the family, but trust that we will not support a player who displays such casually racist behavior and we will continue to hold the Red Stars front office to a higher standard in this regard. (5/5)
USSF didn't "miss the point." They willfully ignored her stated purpose & shaped a false narrative about her protest because white America didn't like it.
Now they're riding popular opinion in the other direction.
@ussoccer
is a craven org and to say anything else is a lie.
Cindy Parlow Cone apologized to Megan Rapinoe, who kneeled during the anthem before the USWNT's 2016 match against Thailand and several times with the Seattle Reign.
Feeling the love all the way from Chicago ❤️
Thank you
@ChicagoLocal134
for our ☕️ treat. Words will never do justice how much we appreciate your support

As Red Stars supporters and fans, how does it make you feel when you see Julie Ertz continuously refuse to kneel as a silent protest and call to end racial injustice & police brutality toward people of color?
Our expectation was that each Red Stars player would actively and without reservation support their Black teammates & supporters and choose to kneel during the anthem. We do not see the choice to stand as acceptable. We hope players who chose to stand will re-examine that choice.
I think Carli Lloyd has spoken about why she doesn't want to kneel during the national anthem. But I'm curious if anyone has asked her why she chose not to take a knee for a minute before kickoff along with every other American player, staff member, and referee
Louisville City FC president Brad Estes said Proof Louisville FC was chosen out of “probably 100 names” and doesn't just have to do with Bourbon. "We’re proving every day that we’re growing and that we belong in the upper echelon."
#NWSL
How can we grow the game, in a city that clearly wants to support the Red Stars (see: 35,038 people), when being the primary tenant of a stadium still means the team can be kicked out of an already scheduled match?
We’ve changed our profile pic to support the players but the action absolutely isn’t stopping here with a picture. The Red Stars need to clean house! Join us in our fight the hold ownership accountable (and hopefully get them out of here)

put a quarter in your piggy bank every day for the next 24 days and suddenly you have enough for a CBS All Access account for the entire length of the Challenge Cup and you can stop bothering soccer journalists about the cost
The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that its independent investigator has completed the investigation into an incident that occurred on April 9, 2021 in Houston.
Details:
Casey Short's goal was immediately worth over $1,000 last night based solely on a combo of Red Stars players' pledges to Get Yo Mind Right and supporters participating in the
@NWSLSG_ACTS
fundraiser.
@ people suggesting washington rename their team the "red stars"
ask literally any sports media outlet what it's like to have the women's soccer community after you 🤣
It's been 3 hrs & still no acknowledgment or apology from
@HoustonDash
,
@BBVAStadium
, or
@NWSL
regarding the clearly racist discrimination from security last night.
We will not be sanctioning away travel to Houston until this is addressed / resolved to Sarah's satisfaction.
My bf came to our game against
@HoustonDash
+ after the game he came down steps to talk to me. We were immediately (before he was close 2 me)followed by security and told he would be arrested if he came close. Meanwhile white players were talking to white fam all over the stadium

Chicago Local 134 calls for the Front Office to answer the demands we presented to them as a supporter’s group two months ago amidst other stories of manipulation and abuse in the league.
Rory Dames’ resignation was done under the cover of night and with no additional information provided, proving to us that Arnim Whisler and the rest of the organization have not learned from our discussions.
