I'd rather dine with the devil himself than with any god. At least you know what you're getting with the devil. The idea of an all seeing god who knows exactly the horrors being performed by people, some, by his followers, but does not intervene, is frankly more horrifying than any devil. The devil is more honest and has more integrity at this point. I'd rather share my table with it.

Exactly. It's as if they're aware but trying to paint another picture. The woman is distressed. She doesn't know what's going on. He is calm and knows what's going on and what has been happening. It's so hard to watch and on top have these men say that she's the one who is predatory and crazy.
