Hey, transplant community! We just released B.C.’s organ donation and transplant statistics from 2024. 💚There were 481 people who received organ transplants so that means 481 people were gifted a second chance at life.

We have a bonus milestone to share with you all and one that is a little different from the rest. Joanne, liver recipient celebrated not only 11 years with her gifted liver, but the Curtis family also welcomed a baby boy to their family last year!

Earlier this month, BCT’s wonderful volunteers raised awareness for organ donation and transplant at CIBC’s Run for the Cure. A big thank you to our amazing volunteer team in the Interior for holding down the fort! We appreciate you.

Double-lung recipient Miranda got a second chance at life when she received her new lungs. Now she gets to continue playing her favourite sport, baseball and hanging out with her son, Kale.

Two-time kidney recipient Kaleena and heart recipient Jordan first met at transplant camp when they were teenagers. As they learned, the gift of life can lead to a chance to find love, even if it takes more than 16 years.

Amy donated a kidney to her mother, Vicky in April 2021 and shares, “My mom gave me the gift of life and I was able to return the gift of life. The bond we have forged through this process is incredibly special and priceless.” Read their full story here:
