We just won our Senate race! As a son of immigrants, a public school kid, I never could’ve imagined I’d get to serve as a US Senator. I’m deeply humbled and grateful to NJ and for everyone who got us here. I promise I’ll serve with honor and integrity as a public servant for all.

Any action to shut USAID down would need to go through Congress, and we will fight this. This is all self-inflicted damage. We face real national security threats, and right now our adversaries/competitors are loving what they see — America at war with itself. END

There are certain moments that call for humanity. My heart breaks for a father who lost his son. We can be a country that leads with empathy, not division. This is a time to come together and support those mourning unspeakable loss this week.

Was a long long day of work at the Capitol, but I’m finally able to sit down and celebrate Lunar New Year they way one should — with a mountain of homemade dumplings! Wishing everyone happy year of the Snake.

Because of all of you who raised your voices and concerns, Trump backed down. Just because the decision has been reversed doesn’t mean the damage hasn’t been done or the threats to people is over. Let’s keep the energy up and make sure the American people are paying attention. UPDATE: Now Trump White House saying they are still moving ahead with the freeze. This is a rollercoaster for people relying on this funding. What a mess. We will continue to fight back.

Today was chaos, but remember that chaos is Trump’s plan. They maximized the havoc of the funding freeze as it makes them feel powerful. They didn’t care about the damage and hurt. But in just a few hrs we saw a groundswell rise against this blatant power grab. Let’s keep it up.
