You don’t have to like the way you look naked to earn the right to be naked.
Others don’t have to like the way you look naked for you to earn the right to be naked.
And you don’t have to like the way other people look naked for them to earn the right to be naked.
A lot of good points and bullets on this list, but one that’s missing is a general lack of interest from clubs and organizations in listening to and involving young people in the kind of leadership that would help attract more young people.
I didn’t write a piece on New Year’s this year, but a lot of this post from three years ago still rings true.
I have some goals for 2022 but mostly I like to look back at what I’ve accomplished in the previous year and remind myself what I’m capable of doing. 🥂
"Naturism and the Gay Body"
A new blog post in honor of Pride Month. 🏳️🌈
Some months ago I sat to talk with Nicholas Roessler, president of
@gaynaturists
, unsure what I was looking for. This is what I chose to write: My story... and little bit more.
Despite how it feels when you’re trying social nudity for the first time, keep this in mind: Nudists don’t gather together to gawk at each other. We don’t build clubs and resorts so that we can stare and laugh at newcomers. We don’t get naked to make everyone feel awkward. 1/2
Normalize nudity? 👍🏻
Normalize making a conscious effort to not be bothered by things that other people enjoy that don’t hurt anyone or impact your life in any way? 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
SOMEONE AT THE GOODWILL DROP-OFF JUST ASKED ME ABOUT MY SKINNY-DIPPER BUMPER STICKER.
And then asked me where he could go skinny-dipping near LA. And then told me I looked 40 years too young. And then I told him he’d be surprised!
So, basically I feel like a nudist evangelist.
"Bodies For Sale"
Check out my latest blog post on privatized nudism, the commodification of the naked body, and the changing values of young nudists.

We do it because, at the end of the day, it makes us feel better about ourselves, about each other. It makes us feel more whole and healthy and happy to get used to being comfortable in our skin, so we create spaces where we can help others experience the same for themselves. 2/2
This past week, I’ve been thinking a lot about the pickle that our nudist clubs and organizations have gotten themselves into by not adapting with the times, by not embracing and engaging each new generation. They’re so far behind now that it’s difficult to catch up. 1/9
World Naked Gardening Day makes me happy… it combines plants and care for the natural world with body acceptance and corporeal freedom… and then gets people to have fun sharing it on social media, and not just nudists but all sorts of folks.
10/10 would recommend.
“Naturism improves your emotional wellbeing, definitely, but I wonder whether it’s nudity that’s good for you or, rather, that there’s a widespread complex around the body that’s profoundly damaging to our self-image and that naturism is an inoculation against this.”
Today’s Observer has an excellent sympathetic feature on the current rise of naturism in Britain by
@wanderingsal
(with small contributions by me) plus the most fantastic choreographed photographs by Pal Hansen. The football image, in particular, is a gem.
