President Trump believes in a free press and expects and welcomes tough questions of him and his Administration. We will, however, never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern...
On to the next adventure! After eight years at WH, I’m moving into a new role as anchor on weekends and chief domestic correspondent for
@CNN
, a new challenge I’m very excited about. Will miss my WH colleagues. But I know they’ll be great covering the Biden admin. See you soon!
We are not the enemy of the people. I am not your enemy. You are not my enemy. It is wrong to call your fellow Americans the enemy. We are all on the same team. We are all Americans.
I walked out of the end of that briefing because I am totally saddened by what just happened. Sarah Sanders was repeatedly given a chance to say the press is not the enemy and she wouldn't do it. Shameful.
Hannity is a propagandist for profit, peddling lies every night. He says he’s just a talk show host, not a journalist. But he’s injecting poison into the nation’s political bloodstream warping public attitudes about the press. I’m confident in the long run the truth will prevail.
After voting to acquit, McConnell is slamming Trump for his lies leading up to Jan 6 and the violence at the Capitol. A McConnell vote to convict could have changed everything.
Trump soiled the WH Rose Garden with that performance. Presidents do not use the Rose Garden in that kind of naked political fashion. That was not a press conference, as the WH described it. It was a campaign rally disguised as a press conference. It was a bait and switch.
Psaki at WH briefing: "This may be hard to believe. We don't spend a lot of time talking about or thinking about president Trump here. Former president Trump, to be very clear."
“Trump is livid” and “screaming at everyone,” after last night’s disappointing midterm results for GOP, according to a Trump adviser. The adviser went on to slam the former president’s handpicked contenders: “they were all bad candidates.” “Candidates matter,” the adviser said.
At Trump rally in Phoenix area, I was told by a supporter of the president to “get the hell out of our country.” Tell that to my grandfather who is buried at Arlington and my dad who fled to the US as a refugee from Cuba.
Biden has tried to temper his comments since the election. But not tonight. Biden laid into Trump and the GOP for continuing to baselessly question the election results.
Just a sample of the sad scene we faced at the Trump rally in Tampa. I’m very worried that the hostility whipped up by Trump and some in conservative media will result in somebody getting hurt. We should not treat our fellow Americans this way. The press is not the enemy.
You can hear people cheering from where we are inside the WH grounds. Trump is not here to hear this for himself. But the cheers are coming from all directions.
Imagine what life would be like if the only “trusted” news source is the government, mandating what’s reported and controlling what appears in internet search engine results. I’ve visited places like that. They are not the United States of America.
Sanders said today the WH is not looking for the taxpayers to pay for the wall while at the same time said the WH is looking to other agencies to find wall funding. Is
@presssec
aware that agencies of the federal government are funded by taxpayers?
WH officials have serious concerns about Trump's condition tonight and his symptoms are worse than those of the First Lady at this point, according to our sources.
The WH made 18 attempts to call GA sec of state Raffensperger before Trump’s attempted shakedown over the phone Saturday, a GA state official confirms to CNN.
Trump lied repeatedly throughout the 60 Minutes interview on COVID, crowd sizes, health care, etc. Stahl pushed him and fact-checked him which is why he's upset.
The Democrats took the word GOD out of the Pledge of Allegiance at the Democrat National Convention. At first I thought they made a mistake, but it wasn’t. It was done on purpose. Remember Evangelical Christians, and ALL, this is where they are coming from-it’s done. Vote Nov 3!
Stewing in the WH, the lame duck president just fired a leading cybersecurity official in Chris Krebs who vouched for the security of US election. Trump still has more than two months before he has to go. Two more months to settle scores and potentially cause great damage.
CNN: National Association of Manufacturers, the nation's largest manufacturing association, called on Vice President Mike Pence Wednesday to consider working to remove President Trump from office.
A source familiar with Trump’s Tuesday Oval Office meeting with his coronavirus task force said the president is still not demonstrating that he has a firm grasp of the severity of the pandemic in the US.
“He still doesn’t get it,” the source said. “He does not get it.”
Trump on his approach to the virus: “We are focusing on the science, the facts and the data” Trump is saying this to a non-socially distanced crowd where supporters aren’t wearing masks.
Bush 43 quoting Bush 41: “we cannot hope only to leave our children a bigger car, a bigger bank account. We must hope to give them a sense of what it means to be a loyal friend, a loving parent, a citizen who leaves his home, his neighborhood, and town better than he found it.”
We were beaten, we were tear-gassed. I thought I was going to die on this bridge. But somehow and some way, God almighty helped me here. We cannot give up now. We cannot give in. We must keep the faith, keep our eyes on the prize.
My colleague
@kaitlancollins
is a dedicated journalist who always asks the right questions. It must be stated how disappointing it is to see outgoing
@PressSec
hurl insults at reporters. Like so many admin employees she has forgotten she works for the American people. Not Trump.
Trump lawyer refusing to answer question about whether Trump won the election and whether Trump was perpetuating a lie that the election was stolen from him. Speaks volumes.
Some cabinet members are holding preliminary discussions about invoking the 25th amendment to force Trump’s removal from office, a source familiar with the matter tells CNN. It’s unclear whether the effort would ultimately be successful at this stage.
It’s baffling that the president of the United States would tweet Marine Core instead of Marine Corps but that’s like the 20th most shocking thing that’s happened today.
WH says “media chatter” about Trump firing Fauci is “ridiculous.” Reality check: Trump fueled that “chatter” when he retweeted somebody saying “fire Fauci.”
Been covering Trump for three years now. Will never quite understand how the GOP tolerates his attacks on McCain, Bushes and Romney. The GOP just shrugs its shoulders.
With all due respect, the WH seized my press credentials after I called out Trump’s xenophobia when he referred to a migrant caravan as an invasion. Some of us were calling out his lies, his racism and dealt with serious death threats along the way. Inaccurate to say otherwise.
"We journalists should have been tougher on Mr. Trump, questioning his every lie and insult," writes
@jorgeramosnews
. "We should not have let him get away with his racism and xenophobia."
Remember these aren’t just Trump’s actions. There are WH officials and other federal employees carrying out these orders. He can’t do all of that alone.
Outrageous that the VP would not take questions at a news briefing as the president is raising questions about the legitimacy of the election. “Are you on board with what Trump is doing or not?” is a question he should be prepared to answer.
