TalkSport’s Shebahn Aherne wasn’t having any of it when a football commentator repeatedly claimed "no one is bothered" about women’s football. Her powerful defence has gone viral because @WomensSportTrust's recent data tells a very different story🔥

Powerful words by Nazir Afzal OBE, former North West Chief Crown Prosecutor back at our charity’s 40th anniversary conference in November. Nazir has dedicated his career to tackling violence against women and girls, and understands the importance of male allyship in doing so.

We know sport can give girls resilience, courage, self-belief and a sense of belonging. But herein lies the problem... Only 45% of girls in England are considered to be ‘active’, exercising for an average of 60+ minutes a day🚨 #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek

In 2008, Yashmin Harun had had enough of being forced to sit on the sidelines. She founded her own basketball club which led to the setting up of @MuslimahAsso, a non-profit working towards becoming a National Governing Body for Muslim women in sport 🤩

Girls are not born disliking sport; they get just as much joy from sport as boys do. But somewhere along the line, they're told it isn’t for them. We’re asking the Gov. to improve school sport for girls, so they too can benefit from the fulfilment and lifelong benefits of sport

Gender equality is not a zero sum game. We need good men (and we know there are lots of them) to stand with us. At a time when when division seems more rampant than ever, we must band together to make our message clear: women and girls belong in sport. @maleallyship
