The conflict in the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo — driven by historical, economic, and political factors — cannot be resolved militarily. All parties involved must cease hostilities and embrace dialogue. The East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) will jointly push for a peaceful resolution, prioritising cooperation and civilian protection. During the joint EAC-SADC Summit at State House, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

We encourage farmers to vaccinate their livestock to maximise the benefits of the vast export markets we have secured to increase their incomes. Inspected the progress of the Isiolo Export Abattoir, a strategic livestock processing hub that will enhance market access for farmers from Isiolo, Marsabit, Samburu, Wajir, Garissa, Mandera, Laikipia, and Meru counties. With a daily processing capacity of 300 cattle, 100 camels, and 2,500 goats and sheep, this facility will strengthen our position in the global meat market.

We are rolling out the Affordable Housing Programme to provide decent homes, eradicate informal settlements, create jobs and sustainably drive industrial growth through the increased demand for construction materials. Inspected the progress of the 200-unit Isiolo Township Affordable Housing Project. We are looking forward to increasing the number of units to meet the burgeoning demand for houses in the town. Later, assessed the progress of the Isiolo County Teaching and Referral Hospital, Accident and Emergency Centre; we committed to equip the facility and build hostels for students.

The construction of County Aggregation and Industrial Parks across the country will provide farmers with access to cold storage, agro-processing, and value addition. This initiative will minimise post-harvest losses, boost farmers’ earnings, and drive economic growth from the bottom up. Laid the foundation stone for the Isiolo County Aggregation and Industrial Park and addressed residents of Isiolo Town.

The 205-kilometre Isiolo-Kulamawe-Modogashe road upgrade to bitumen standards is part of a broader plan to connect Isiolo and Mandera, enhancing access and trade with Somalia and Ethiopia. Traversing Meru, Garissa, Isiolo, Wajir and Mandera Counties, the road will boost trade, drive economic growth and foster integration. In Garbatula, Isiolo County, officially launched the Horn of Africa gateway development project: Isiolo - Kulamawe and Kulamawe - Modogashe roads that will also include the Garbatula Town loop road.

We are heartbroken by the death of veteran broadcaster Leonard Mambo Mbotela. He was a gifted and powerful broadcaster whose alluring voice dominated our airwaves with his first-class football commentaries and the signature programme “Je, Huu Ni Ungwana?” Mbotela will fondly be remembered for the integral role he played on our radio stations — through the mentoring of young broadcasters.
