On January 31, #TOA celebrated the rock band from Ajax, Sum 41, as they wrapped up their final tour! Fans got together for an exclusive live Q&A with broadcaster, Josie Dye, and #AjaxCouncil presented the band with the first ever Key to the Town and a copy of the “Sum 41 Way” street sign. This morning, #AjaxCouncil visited the Ajax GO Station in recognition of @VSDurhamRegion's new poster campaign, which shares shocking statistics about gender-based violence: - The average age of recruitment for sex trafficking is just 13 years old. - Under 1% of femicides are committed by strangers, while 66% are committed by intimate partners. - A woman in Canada is killed every 48 hours.   VSDR hopes the posters at Durham GO stations will to bring awareness to the distressingly common and year-round epidemic that is gender-based & intimate partner violence.   VSDR is a recognized partner in the #TownofAjax and Partners’ Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) 2024 Report. The Report outlines the barriers, challenges and strengths that intervention & prevention professionals are experiencing combatting IPV, and 13 tangible actions for TOA, upper levels of government, service providers and community members.   Find the report at
