So, are we still asking the nurses to take a pay cut when we've found $20M to pay vaccination holdouts $100 per shot? Imagine the nurse that is delivering the vaccination is asked to take a pay cut. Their patient, a vaccination holdout, gets $100. That's cold.

I'm a woman of colour, a Canadian, an Albertan, and a professional engineer. I respect & admire medical doctors. As a co-chair of Alberta's Anti-Racism Advisory Council, one thing I know is that racism seems to propagate with COVID-19. That shouldn't be so. #IStandWithDrTam

I was asked by a friend why I’m a professional engineer. I told them that on December 6, 1989 when I was Grade 11, I had an aptitude for math & science and tragically 14 women were murdered at the engineering school of École Polytechnique de Montréal because they were women. 1/

A long thread. One of the things that Ralph Klein did well was create personas for Alberta. Remember Martha and Henry? Well let’s talk about Kyle. Kyle is one of the protesters down in Coutts. Kyle hates Justin Trudeau, except for the legalizing weed part, that was okay. 1/

Alberta, take a moment to think about what happened today. The provincial government had to be internationally shamed into protecting the health & lives of their citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic; then, only did the bare minimum to stop the protests & global embarrassment.

Okay, this needs to be said. 1. It's okay to call people who are racist & hold racist view points, racists. 2. Racism is not an opinion. 3. The 'difficult issues' have a name. Racism. 4. Racism & hate have fairly well known symbols & images that are used on purpose.

The economic impacts of COVID-19 for women are atrocious & the vaccination strategy doesn't prioritize them either. In Alberta: • 94% of nurses are women • 71% of teachers are women • 51% of retail workers are women • 81% of health care & social assistance workers are women.

This is not a plan. It is bin liner, it is not even a good word salad. This is embarrassing and weak. Was there a rush to get *something* out before the Pope arrives next week? Perhaps I will give three examples so we all know exactly how bad this so called plan is... 1/

My MP @GregMcLeanYYC thinks it's impolite for me to speak to him at fancy ball, in formal wear, about his egregious, inaccurate post on crime rates in Calgary. Yes, you bet I said my bit to him in a designer gown & shoes, wearing all my own jewelry. Totally spoke truth to power.

Interesting. On Feb 17, I gave the BHM presentation at Oslers. It was anti-racism in just four short rules "Anti-racism: It's Not As Hard As Law School". The first rule (literally 2nd slide of the deck) was don't do business with racists. I think Brad may have skipped my talk.

What's the criteria to be a Stampede Queen or Princess? Because don't understand how everyone of them, including the alumni back to even 1976 (still looked great btw) have been white. I'm pretty sure there are women of colour that ride horses really well and can do a royal wave.

Ottawa’s Indian Act policy suppressed indigenous culture, barring regalia, ceremony, language & intertribal gatherings. The founders of the Stampede used their influence to push back, creating this gathering with many of the same families erecting teepees here for +100 years.

I can't even today. "And young women your prize will be merchandise from the government store!" Wow. Could have provided a few scholarships for STEM studies, law school, political studies, etc. Nope. Please write an essay & you can win this pottery teapot.

I have 40 KN95 masks, 2 bottles of gin, 1 Curtis Mayfield CD, 2 sirloin steaks, and 3 COVID-19 mRNA vaccinations. I'm going to relax in the comfort of my home this weekend and not think about the many people and situations that enraged me. Letting life's blessings wash over me.

Police across Canada try to avoid the radicalization of youth into terrorism until it comes to white kids & terrorist groups like the Proud Boys. It’s all ‘youth engagement to prevent crime’ until Kyle Jr & Karen roll up with their f*ck trudeau flags, Nazi & Confederate flags. 2/

You have to be spectacularly inept and misguided in policy, word, and deed as a government to upset every stripe of country music artist in Alberta. Like seriously.

Combative. Disrespectful. Not nice. Disruptive. A mere collection of some of the words this Black woman has been called for asking difficult, well researched, pointed & thoughtful questions in the performance of my volunteer work. Those words are signs I'm doing my job well. 1/

The bonkers people calling on PMJT to meet with the trucker terrorists need to stop. I personally refuse meetings with people who hold up signs outside my office that indicate that they want to simultaneously fornicate with, assault, or assassinate me. Just my prerogative. ✊🏾

A woman wearing a visible symbol of her faith was violently assaulted in broad daylight, in the middle of the afternoon in Calgary on #FightRacism Day. This is our reality Calgary. I have no soothing words or elegant statements. This is 100% horrific.

This long weekend, a reminder that pandemic productivity is an unnecessary expectation to substantiate. All those people you know writing books, starting businesses, refurbishing their homes - good for them. Only thing you actually have to do is not get COVID-19. You're welcome.

Minister @LeelaAheer as a woman of South Asian descent, I'm certain these comments weren't okay with you either. Please be the good human I personally know you to be and say as much to the Premier & Albertans. We must call out this behaviour. Silence is complicitous. [2 of 2]

I take ½ day vacation & the racists seem to take it for open season. Let’s do a thread. Black Lives Matter is a movement, a philosophy, not an individual candidate. It’s work to address systemic & anti-Black racism. You can’t be “a Black Lives Matter”, that’s not a thing. 1/

Umm, no Premier. You don't get to take credit for this one. (Red card, game misconduct.) I remember shovels going in the ground two days after I was diagnosed with cancer. That's why I remember. I am a patient at the current one, I'll be a patient at the new one too.
