February is #BlackHistoryMonth, sometimes called Black Futures Month, a time to acknowledge that the story of Black people in the US is still being written, and find ways to honor the many successes and contributions of African-Americans both in the past and today. Swipe for ideas on how to increase your understanding of the Black experience in the US. If you identify as Black, focusing on Black history may feel inspiring or healing, or because the history of Black people in the US contains so much injustice, focusing on it can bring up challenging emotions. All of these feelings are valid, and you can choose to engage, or not, in whatever way feels right to you.

Yes, all Talkspace therapists are licensed professionals with active, independent state board-approved clinical licenses (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, PhD). They undergo background checks, have and meet strict credentialing requirements. On average, Talkspace providers have 7-10 years of post-supervision experience and are thoroughly vetted to ensure high-quality care.

@SharonKise18684 @Debra65991578 You're absolutely right. While friends and family can offer love and understanding, they often aren't equipped with the specialized training needed to help us process and heal from deep trauma, intense crises, or profound grief.

It’s totally valid to seek different types of support based on your needs. Therapy and spiritual guidance each offer unique benefits. If you feel more aligned with talking to a priest, that could be a helpful path for you. Ultimately, finding the right support is what matters most for your well-being.

@BDD5150 At Talkspace, we focus on acknowledging your feelings while helping you move forward. Dwelling too much on mental health challenges can keep you stuck. Therapy is about learning tools to reframe your thoughts and build a healthier mindset.

@VaNiisays Constant productivity robs us of rest, creativity, and true balance. We’re humans, not machines—rest is essential for growth. 💚
