Fantastic day @ToulouseFC. A hugely enjoyable session shared with the extremely knowledgable & welcoming technical staff at an impressive club in a beautiful city. Discussion/debate was lively and productive throughout. Always a pleasure to talk football with people like this!🙏

📹 You can make a pretty good argument for Hansi Flick’s Barca having the best attack in Europe. But how are they so consistently dangerous in possession? So much is down to a system which allows diagonal structures to emerge fluidly in relation to the dynamics of the situation.

see how the perception of the RB, CF and RW are all aligned along the affordances of the inside diagonal after the switch.

idk how Zirkzee and Hojlund will work together but it''d be interesting to see something like this in possession. Natural tilt to the left with Rash/Zirkzee/Bruno playing close together. Dalot inverting and supporting the play. Mainoo choosing moments to play and go from deep.

the logic driving the free-man concept is simple: the more space and time a player has, the better action that player can make. It makes sense to an extent, but it starts to break down when you think about players who like to use close pressure from opponents to their advantage.

Last season Racing were already showing their trademark inside attacking combinations. Playing to the player with pressure from behind, 360 perception from the receiver, close support for the receiver, touch and go, tabela... Top stuff from Inigo Vicente.
