Not financial advice but if his credit record is now better and he has a relationship with another bank he can refinance for a better rate. Bank are always open to clients with good credit. Especially when they refinance a daylight robbery like this.

Here's the simple answer. They attract us with things like a foreign currency salary, a foreign visa, working in a tax haven. Then you're kinda stuck there making the most of the experience even though for your career it's not a good move.

I gave them a pay range. They came back and said we feel it's unfair to pay you that range because the 2024 range is much higher. They tacked on like a R150k above expectations. Some businesses are serious about securing talent.

Most work stress is fictional unless you save lives stressing about future outcomes and feedback from stakeholders is unnecessary. We have labour laws you're not getting fired for a reasonable error. Negative feedback won't end your career. Do your best and let it be.

Formal education isn't for everyone. People need exit qualifications. A functioning society needs people in all types of jobs. Not everyone is gonna be a rocket scientist.
Guys please be serious… The pass mark isn’t literally 30%.
For a Bachelors pass you need:
At least 40% for your home Language. 50% for four other high credit subjects (excluding Life Orientation) At least 30% for two other subjects. Must pass 6 out of 7 subjects.

We all experience university differently, accounting doesn't have the steep learning curve up front like other degrees but I don't think the testing method was drastically different to high school. Independent learning and managing your own studies were the biggest adjustments.

The applicant, an Ethiopian citizen who does not speak English at all, arrived in South Africa having fled from Ethiopia due to severe political unrest. He fled to SA to be with his brothers (documented) and seek asylum.

Sometimes I laugh about how this recruiter from Network said I'll need 3 years post articles experience to even ask for R900k offers.. I laugh because two of my ex colleagues got offers in the region without even 1 year experience. One isn't even qualified yet.

Being a CA means you have a variety of technical skills. For a specific role a further qualification may be needed. Ultimately it's your soft skills that will differentiate you. It's not about qualification chasing, it's about striving to be a well rounded professional.

Factory fitted LEDs are fine people just drive with the high beams on or their lights aren't adjusted probably. People who swap LEDs into halogen modules are the problem because LEDs aren't supposed to be used with reflectors that make them brighter.

While I'm very grateful to have been exposed to the industry that landed me my first non audit job. The international exposure card is oversold because you're hired mainly to get audit work done, with your professional growth and development taking a backseat.

If you're unwilling to return to audit. The CA job market currently looks a bit dire. A lot of roles advertised would never place a newly qualified because you're too expensive. The rest don't want newly qualifieds mostly because they're too lazy to train someone.

Two high school kids asked me on TikTok about becoming a CA. For all it's ills at least younger people have easier access to find people in their prospective careers to speak because I 100% picked this career blindly.

You're loaded with having to repay relocation allowances if you leave early so you stay enjoying the travel and experience but professionally we're doing trainee work while our peers in SA are managers in audit or they're climbing the corporate ladder outside audit.
