Thank you God for looking after my loved ones during the scariest news. Thank you folks who prayed and sent wishes, I will always do the same back.
Please frequently check your body for signs it's trying to fuck you up and be kind even to folks that you think don't deserve it💖
Working on a directory of Irish folk who work across all remits of the games industry as we need to get better at finding each other + shouting about our successes 😊

Well fecky doo that's a lovely surprise this morning.
The past year I've worked on more games that any previous year across marketing and PR.
Genuinely warms my grumpy heart that folk nominated me for this. 🥹
Got asked if I'd do an in-person talk in the US but that my flights and accommodation wouldn't be covered as it could be seen as a way to also promote myself.
The funniest thing I've heard this year and it's only 3 days in.
Should mention that I'm consulting PR and Comms for
@CAGames
@PlayHyenas
It's a really refreshing new challenge and I'm glad to be put to use on such a big game for one of the most renowned studios out there, while still being able to support indie devs 😊
I'm Claire a friendly Irish lass with 10+ yrs exp as a comms specialist heading Brand, Marketing, and PR for AAA + indie studios.
I've created + executed strategies from top level to doing the groundwork + growing teams.
Always open to chat + offer advice

If anyone wants to read my

Some nuance may be lost by me not verbally detailing slides but if there are any questions feel free to ask 😊
I've been a
@BAFTAGames
games nominee twice, a BAFTA judge once, and a BAFTA crew member.
Now I've been invited (and have paid for this) to be a full
@BAFTA
member, which is very nice cheers 😊
This tweet probably has the most mentions of the word BAFTA ever, sorry.
I'm available for fully remote seniors roles + support across Marketing, Communications + Brand. Happy to also look outside games.
13+ years leading + executing
Multiple awards + superb memes
Kind + candid

Just some games I've worked on either this year or previously worked on that were released this year. And of course, a big one that got nuked but I'm proud of the graft involved regardless 😌
Oh and a massive one can't say anything about for a year huehuehue
Just thinking back to when I was asked to provide an entire marketing strategy as part of a job interview and didn't get the job but they implemented a bunch of very specific beats from said plan including using rough example assets I made 😊
Never falling for that again.
Hello it's me your grumpy yet friendly
#GameDevHeroes
judge
Good luck to all nominated and please always be your biggest supporter regardless if you weren't shortlisted this year. Submit n boast yourself always 🗣📣

Starting a new Sharkbit service called Get in the Van
I'll drive around scooping up community + social managers whenever they're dealing with abuse for things they have no control over.
We'll go for a drive, visit alpaca farms, have a picnic, and then home in time for sleeps
I like that Develop chose a photo of me that makes it look like I'm moaning about an evri delivery and scolding the games industry on all its shortcomings. And you know I was 😌
You can get a job in the games industry with or without a degree. Sure it leans to one side more for some companies and some roles.
No one should feel put off by their background, but rather see what companies are worth applying to based on theirs.
Been a strong supporter of remote work not only due to successfully doing so since 2016 but it allows options for folk with physically issues.
Now I suffer with daily chronic pain I will (somehow) be even more adamant in WFH. Don't miss out on hard workers for unnecessary rules.
I'm once again begging game companies to hire only Irish voice actors if you want Irish characters in your games. The absolute state of these oirish noises is offensive.
Thanks to folks reaching out today. I was contracted to head PR + Comms and that ended start of this month. So I'm grand, know nothing, and am proud of the work I did. The team deserves kindness and all the good luck going as they made something really fun. Wish them the best.
4 day weeks mandatory on-site policies are no replacement for fully remote options. My heart and health would sink to be on the wrong side of how times have changed for the better when fully remote became the norm.
Day 2 at
@WASDlive_
and after seeing how packed Pine Hearts was yesterday and hearing all the lovely comments about the game, the
@HyperLuminalUK
team, I can only imagine how pumping today will be ☺️
Phew, that's a lovely surprise. Thank you to whoever thought of me for this, saw all the work I'm doing, and took the time to nominate me 😊
But also this is who you chose and it's too late to go back on it sorry.

It sounds pessimistic but we also have to be wary of some men that claim to support women in games but their actions are the complete opposite of that. Securing their narrative is their goal above making conscious efforts to make this industry less toxic for all.
"So many people seemed to be complicit, it felt that his behaviour was seen as okay, and I needed to just get on with it"
Skillfull's Gina Jackson on the ongoing issue of toxicity against women - and why men need to speak up about it
So no one feels awkward, I'm dealing with spinal issues. Basically, I awoke one April morn how I am now. Degen spinal disc pushing on sciatic nerve.
I'll be at Gamescom w/ a cane & haunched. No I won't be any grumpier than usual. Yes I'm seeking ways to fix me. Here's a bad meme
Should interns who worked on a game for a few months be in the credits?
Unless adding their name causes you and your bloodline to combust, yes. Even then...yes.
Doesn't matter if you're waiting on an answer, spruce the CV and start prepping for yourself. Some solid options to start 👇

Made a wee (basic af) vid to show off the games I worked on & achievements this past year.
Security in this biz is always a cause of stress so thanks to all the folk I've worked with.
I'm in need of a rest but will be back to the grind in 2024 and hope to work with YOU ☺️
Really appreciate it when someone responds to your email, even if it's a no. It's just about the acknowledgment 😊
"sorry don't have the bandwidth"
"thought I blocked you how'd you pass the filters"
etc

I just think it'd be neat if event and showcase organisers would let all applicants know whether or not they've been accepted. People are working on trailers etc towards your timelines just in case, a simple update email regardless of yes or no can't be that hard to send out 🤷♀️
In the past year I did PR and Marketing for 15+ games! Working with many indie and AAA folk across the globe.
I am so proud of my work and so grateful to have be able to do it from the comfort of my own home especially as I deal with (hopefully fixable) dehabilitating issues 💚

I've been through a few redundancies, unfairly let go, quit a role same day a dodgy person joined and last year was meant to transition from contractor to Global Head of PR for AAA but the company was hit hard. I know how caic this all is - if anyone wants to chat/vent DMs open
As always if a human being contributed any time, at any time, towards the creation of a game, their name should be in the credits.
Text lines on credits surprisingly don't deplete your budget 😲
It's very important to set boundaries between yourself & work, especially if remote.
Do not feel the need to respond to messages at night time for things that can be dealt with during working hrs. Nothing in this biz that urgent. Non-work life & mental health are more important
