Experience of a Dubai-based entrepreneur living for a short time in Bali. Welcome back!
I left Bali early. The locals are the nicest people I've ever met, but I didn't meet a single person who hadn't gotten ill on arrival. I managed to miss the dreaded "Bali belly" but caught something else and was put straight on a drip when I got back to Dubai today. Not only that, in my 2 months in Bali: 🐥I was hit by a van carrying chickens in to oncoming traffic. 🏍️ Had a moped go into the back of me. 🐕 I was chased by dogs while going for a run. (A guy I met was attacked by 3) 💩Had near misses with open sewers. 🚦The main issue is, the network stays in one area where the traffic is so bad/dangerous that every time you leave the house you put your life at risk. 🚙Otherwise, you can go to the more tranquil areas, but in order to meet up with people, it can require hours on the road. (One time the traffic was so bad I picked up my moped and carried it) Trying to stay healthy and alive is a pretty strong business hack, so I cut my visit short and returned to the 40-degree summer heat in Dubai. Don't get me wrong, Dubai ain't perfect, but it's clean, safe, and doesn't have its own illness named after it.
