My first solo gig was in 2010 opening for Julie Byrne and weyes blood at house in chi town. Maybe 10 ppl came. Even then it was clear they were stars. I sucked an egg. Really sweet gig. Happy to see them both release era defining tunes this last year. Good memory. Music is sick

this record failed miserably in terms of what we call success in the indie rock business, but succeeded in that the jams and lyrics are sick. try it on. my secured discover credit card sure took a beating on this one
I wrote about this in my Noah Kahan column, but I've grown tired of the predominant form of "personal" songwriting that's extremely literal and supposedly ripped from the writer's life. We need a renaissance of "poetic stream of consciousness nonlinear word salad" songwriting.

10 years since amen dunes "love" came out. Dude was on one. One of my favorite records ever. I was lucky enough to open up the west coast leg of that tour. Nobody came to the gigs. Seeing them peel the paint of the walls of dingy shit holes to just me and the sound engineer. Best
