Nearly 75,000 Americans are dying every year from fentanyl overdoses. Fentanyl is now the leading cause of death for adults 18-45. This is a crisis—and it must end NOW. According to the DEA’s 2024 National Drug Threat Assessment, fentanyl remains the primary cause of the ongoing epidemic of drug poisoning deaths in the United States. HALT Fentanyl helps the DEA pursue traffickers of fentanyl-related substances and protect American communities.
The DEA reports that just 2lbs of fentanyl can kill 500,000 people. 1.3 tons? That’s enough to kill every American—twice over. I will be voting YES on the HALT Fentanyl Act—because we must do everything we can to prevent fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances from devastating our communities. Yesterday I chatted with the Ohio Task Force Commanders about how Congress can help them combat drug trafficking in Ohio. I plan to support the HALT Fentanyl Act, which will permanently classify fentanyl-related substances as Schedule 1 drugs. Ohio should be safe & drug-free!

Every single life lost to the fentanyl crisis is more than just a statistic. The HALT Fentanyl Act will save lives and we wish it could have been law sooner. Last Congress, Sen.
