The system worked effectively to safely manage the situation. The patient contacted Public Health who recommended she come to QCH for testing. She was seen in our ED using full precautions, so there is no risk to staff or patients. And she was discharged home for self-isolation.

The paramedics who came from out of town today to help run the pop-up testing drive-thru were given free rooms at the Fairfield Inn in Kanata - one more way to say thank you for their service.
One more thank you: our friends at Fairfield Inn Kanata, who have been housing one of our in-patient units since April to free up room in the hospital, will be housing these paramedics tonight so they will be rested for tomorrow’s work.

Staffing: Normally we have ~40 nursing vacancies, today 90+. That's about 11 unfilled nursing shifts on any given day, over 20 on tougher days. Staff taking on extra shifts & work. There is still a freeze on vacation, which we absolutely hate. It’s hard on everyone. 8/14
