Just trying to imagine Robert Stanfield, Joe Clark, Brian Mulroney or Kim Campbell doing something like this. I can’t because they wouldn’t. What’s wrong with today’s Conservative Party?
#ldnont
Today, we welcomed
@JustinTrudeau
back to
#ldnont
. Incredible enthusiasm and energy from the crowd. People want to see continued support from a party and government that understands mid-sized cities. We are ready to keep delivering for Londoners.
Charter rights are human rights. What the Ford govt has done is an affront to democracy. I stand w/ education workers as they seek better pay and better working conditions. They are on the frontlines of their own struggle but are defending the rights of all workers too.
#ldnont
To the person(s) who vandalized our community office sign last night w/ anti-vaccine messages, I will continue to speak about the importance of being vaccinated. Vaccines offer the best way out of the pandemic. Put public health and the community first and get vaccinated.

Sharing some exciting news. Earlier today I asked Katy to marry me. Her answer made this Christmas extra special. Thank you to our friends and family for your love, support and well wishes. It means the world to us.
Yesterday, I married the love of my life and my best friend. Thank you to our family, friends and the community for your support and well wishes. It means so much to Katy and I.

Those who keep spreading baseless fears about Canada accepting refugees need to read this article. Accepting Syrian newcomers was a moral imperative that is yielding important economic benefits for our country.

A great afternoon as
@JustinTrudeau
visited Blessed Sacrament Catholic School to spend time with students and teachers. We strongly support public education and everything it makes possible for Canada. /1
1/ Let me be very clear on a matter: It’s never acceptable to berate or bully my staff. If you call our office and yell at staff, threaten us, suggest violence, call us “Nazis,” “Communists,” Traitors” or use derogatory language, then you will not be provided service.

A pleasure to campaign for
@StevenDelDuca
in Woodbridge today. We met many years ago and our first conversations focused on securing federal and provincial transit funding for London. His work ethic is second to none. Intelligent and thoughtful, he will be an excellent premier.
Our plan, and the reputation of hard-working Canadians, is bringing good paying jobs back to SW Ontario, fighting climate change, and making Canada a global leader in EV manufacturing. 🇨🇦🔋🚙
Celebrating 25 yrs for

yesterday. This unique event offers a perfect example of how arts and culture bring people together and why diversity remains our biggest strength. Enjoy all weekend long,

Troubling reports from the Globe today. Germany is finding out what happens when you flirt with the far right. And before we say it can’t happen here, remember that Conservative Party MPs wined and dined the AfD just this spring.
#ldnont
A profound thank you to the people of
#Ldnont
North Centre for entrusting me to serve them once again as their Member of Parliament. We’ve achieved a great deal for our city over the past four years, but there’s more to do and I’m ready to keep working.
1/ I am honoured to be assisting Minister
@SeanFraserMP
as Parliamentary Secretary for Housing, Infrastructure and Communities. The work ahead is critical for Canada and I’m ready to help in any way I can.

Families in London will receive $1120 a year from the Canada Carbon Rebate.
Families in Jasraj Hallan’s riding will get $1800.
How will Pierre Poilievre and Conservatives explain that all they want to do is take this money away?
#ldnont
Putting lipstick on the carbon tax pig doesn’t change the fact that 60% of Canadians pay more than they get back in phoney rebates.
Common Sense Conservatives will follow the facts and axe the tax.

One year ago today, I married my best friend. Happy anniversary, Katy. It’s been an incredible first year and I wouldn’t change a thing. The best thing I’ve ever done was marrying you.
#ldnont
It’s a shame that an event that saw our Prime Minister engage positively and safely with Londoners, ended this way. Extremes are always a threat to democracy. We can disagree, but never like this.
#ldnont
Yesterday, I had the honour of being formally sworn in for a third term as the Member of Parliament for London North Centre. Very special to be joined by family and our extraordinary community office staff. To all constituents, I’ll keep working hard for you each day.
#ldnont
Thank you, London North Centre. I’ll keep doing my best for the people of this constituency, our city and region.
I also want to thank
@DirkaProut
,
@SGallantCPC
and
@MaryAnnHodge
on running respectful campaigns and for their hard work. I wish you well in all things.

For Londoners, the Flame of Hope at

#WorldDiabetesDay
, it was rekindled. An honour to witness.
#ldnont
Five years ago tonight, the people of London North Centre chose me to represent them in the Parliament of Canada. This remains the honour of my professional life. Much has been achieved, but there’s more to be done. I’ll continue to do my best to serve constituents and

The past three years have been the best ones of my life. Each day gets better with you and Ava and I wish I could slow things down to enjoy it all even more. Happy anniversary, Katy. Here’s to many more. I love you.

BREAKING: In the middle of a housing crisis, Pierre Poilievre and his Conservative caucus just voted for a bill to increase the tax on the construction of middle class apartments and cut 97% of housing funding we've put on the table for cities.
After Question Period, MPs will vote on Bill C-356, Pierre Poilievre’s housing plan. It would tax home builders, deny support for housing to the vast majority of Canadian communities and says nothing about homelessness. That’s Poilievre’s housing plan. How will CPC MPs vote?
1/ Yesterday, when Prime Minister
@JustinTrudeau
and Deputy Prime Minister
@cafreeland
visited our community, people had the chance to meaningfully engage with two leaders and colleagues I’ve had the chance to work closely with for nearly six years.

1/ I’m honoured to be appointed by Prime Minister
@JustinTrudeau
to serve as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue. I look forward to working with Minister
@DiLebouthillier
as our government continues to help Canadians through the ongoing pandemic.
Meet your new parliamentary secretaries: This talented and diverse team will work with Cabinet ministers and colleagues to create good jobs, grow the middle class, make life more affordable, tackle climate change, advance reconciliation, and more.
1/ What’s happening in Ottawa should force us to ask hard questions about the current state of our democracy. There is no Canadian exceptionalism. People espousing dangerous points of view isn’t new. But now the organizing role of social media makes things different.
#ldnont
2/Nobody should have their mental health or safety put at risk. Nobody has to accept this treatment. My staff has worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to help Londoners each day. I’m grateful for their service to our community and won’t tolerate these unacceptable actions.
Wishing all Londoners a very Happy New Year. We continue to live through difficult moments but our proven resilience will get us through again and we will see better days. Throughout, I’ll keep doing my best for our community.
#ldnont
@SenatorHousakos
Senator, I don’t doubt your commitment to Canada, but this type of partisanship has no place in our democracy, especially during a time of crisis. You can criticize government policy, but I can’t understand your need to launch personal attacks. It’s beneath the office you hold.
At my seat today in the House of Commons as Parliament has resumed. To everyone who voted for me, thank you for this honour. To those who did not, I will work just as hard for you and your loved ones. Looking forward to collaborating and getting things done for Londoners.
#ldnont
Tonight, Londoners, PM
@JustinTrudeau
, community and local leaders paid tribute to the Afzaal family and spoke about the terrorism that took their lives and left a 9 yr old orphaned. Crucially, the need to confront Islamophobia was recognized. We will do so, together.
#ldnont
It’s an honour to serve as a member of the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians on behalf of Londoners and Canadians. Signing the Order In Council documents recently made it official. Thank you, PM

Today, I was sworn in to serve again as the MP for
#LNCentre

We were delighted to meet MP

of London North Centre, ON and have an interesting conversation. We shared the thoughts of the
#Azerbaijani
Canadians on the matters that interest our community and listen to how he advocates for London.
Today, wearing a non-medical mask in enclosed public places became mandatory in
#ldnont
and Middlesex County. The COVID-19 curve has been flattened but the virus remains and a second wave is possible if we are not careful. That is why wearing a mask is absolutely vital.
Political civility has declined in ways that should force all of us to ask hard questions about the future of democracy in Canada. We’re not exceptional. I don’t usually agree w/
@theJagmeetSingh
, but he doesn’t deserve this. No person should have to endure this garbage.
#ldnont
Jagmeet Singh was followed down Wellington Street today by that guy who tried to do a "citizen's arrest" on a Radio-Canada journalist. "Want me to arrest you?" he asks the NDP leader.
The video ends with him telling Singh: "Next time I see you, we're gonna have a dance."
The destruction of dozens of signs using vile profanity is unacceptable. Installed by local volunteers w/ $1000+ in damages in 24 hrs. I know other campaigns have seen this too. It needs to stop. How to respond? Kindness, respect and by voting for the Canada you want.
#ldnont
Today, I spoke in the House of Commons and shared my view on the government’s use of the Emergencies Act in response to the events that took place over the last few weeks in Ottawa, Windsor and elsewhere. As I explain, I believe the conditions of the act have been met.

Happy Birthday, Ava! One year ago today, this little girl was born and our lives were changed. Each day with her is a gift and we treasure her in ways that words could never express.(A big thank you to the many community members who remembered and already reached out. So kind!)
One of the kindest, most thoughtful people I’ve ever had the chance to work with. The House of Commons will be less without her. Karen, I’m proud to call you a friend and wish you nothing but the best in the future.

Breaking news:
Elgin-Middlesex-London MP Karen Vecchio visited myFM this morning to announce she will not be putting her name forward in the next federal election. She will continue to serve her constituents until the end of her term.
Congratulations to

Parade today. We have come very far but there’s more to do. Let’s keep working together to build a city and country where diversity is respected and celebrated.

Completely unacceptable. Because this is about the signage of a local business, I reached out to a city official earlier today to ask if any bylaws are applicable for combating these vile sign messages. I’ve been assured a review is currently underway at City Hall.
#ldnont
Today, federal funding was announced for almost 600 units of housing. At least 129 units will be maintained at or below 30% of the median household income in London for 16 yrs. The key? More supply means more affordability. Details are here:

🇨🇦 doesn’t need saving. What needs to be saved is respect for the sacrifices volunteers from every party make during campaigns. For our sign team, that includes time away from family. Today, they woke up to this. Let’s disagree reasonably and be kind to each other.

Today, we raised the Ukrainian flag at our office and this weekend the building will be lit blue and yellow.
Londoners stand w/ Ukraine and the Ukrainian people today and always. Slava Ukraini. I join the fed govt and MPs across party lines to express solidarity. 🇺🇦🇨🇦

They spend time away from their family. They put themselves at risk to keep us safe. And sometimes, they make the ultimate sacrifice.
To every police officer in Canada and

To all members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, especially youth, the vast majority of Londoners stand with you as you confront hate and the ignorance that underpins it. We are with you today and always. What happened here is completely unacceptable.

1/ Fact check: Housing construction is up 13% year-over-year, exceeding more than 200,000 starts. When Pierre Poilievre was Stephen Harper’s “housing minister,” housing starts never went over 200,000.
As Justin Trudeau and Sean Fraser fund photo ops, bureaucracy and gatekeepers, housing starts in Canada declined 10% in January.
There were less homes built in 2022 than were built in 1972, when the population was half the size. Vacancy rates have fallen to a 35-year low.
