Erika Schwartz was just a small child living in Budapest, Hungary, when the Nazis, under Hitler’s orders, tried to rid the world of the Jewish population. The scars of those years are ever present as her mother’s pain from living through those years affected Erika all her life.

👏 The Nixa Junior High horticulture classes donated 225 heads of lettuce to Least of These Inc. @ccfoodpantry on Tuesday, February 4. 🥬 This lettuce was grown in the aeroponic towers at the Aeroponic Tower Farm. 🌱

When the Aetos Center opened a couple of years ago, its main focus was education. This was recently the case when 2nd graders in Nixa and our neighboring school districts could come see the production of "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus."

In their first year in our district, Chartwells, our new food service provider, has been serving up delicious breakfast and lunch items everyone is raving about. With a focus on healthy and nutritious meals, the Chartwells staff has been eager to satisfy even the pickiest eaters.

📚 Summit Intermediate students in Meredith Carrisalez's class created a Genius Hour/Passion Project. They researched their topic and then chose a mode to present their knowledge to their classmates. Some presentations chosen were models, children's books, and board games. ♟️

Nixapella will perform today at the MMEA conference at the Lake of the Ozarks. They are the third choir from Nixa to be chosen to attend this year's event, along with the Inman Eagle Honor Choir and the Junior High Tenor/Bass Choir. Congratulations!

Next week, the Inman Eagle Honor Choir, the Junior High Varsity Tenor/Bass Choir, and the High School Nixapella choirs will represent Nixa at the state music educator conference at the Lake of the Ozarks. It is very rare to have three choirs selected from one district.

Last month, a ceremony was held at the high school recognizing some hard working juniors and seniors. These students were the first ones to be a part of the Registered Youth Apprenticeship Program, or RYA.

High Pointe Elementary third graders learned how to write by creating their own recipes. Students had a blast following a recipe for Grimace Shakes. It was a delicious and messy time! 🥤

In Amanda Walker's kindergarten class at Century, students enjoyed learning about the five senses. On that day, they touched homemade snow and wrote about their experience. ☃️

The 3rd grade classes at Mathews spent some time before Christmas learning about famous explorers who were critical to Missouri. To make the lesson fun and engaging, the teachers brought in potatoes for the kids to dress up as their explorers.

Third-grade and fourth-grade students at Espy had the chance to learn about weather from an expert in the field. Raychel Nelson from the National Weather Service visited and shared how weather works. 🌦️

High Pointe Elementary had an entertaining morning partnering with Good Dads for their Dads and Donuts event! It was fun for everyone to see so many dads and father figures spending quality time with their little ones. 🍩

🎁 SCORE teachers and staff spread cheer this holiday season by donating blankets to their students! Each class visited the commons to pick out a blanket, and the students were thrilled with their gifts. 👏

One of the hidden benefits of having the @Aetos Center in the Meridian Title Performance Hall on campus is that not only do high school students gain experience learning in a first-class facility, but they also gain experience working the professional shows that come to Nixa.

About three years ago, High Pointe started a program where teachers are observed by their team members. While having other colleagues in your class may be intimidating, the teachers say the benefits outweigh any reservations they experience.
