Exciting news! On Sunday, October 6th, our tamandua pair, Mom “Winnie” and Dad “Mr. Wendel,” welcomed their newest baby! We haven’t named the little one yet, as we’re still waiting to learn the gender.
Winnie, an experienced mom, is currently getting settled with the baby, while
Cub Cam is temporarily offline due to possible power surges from the weather the past few days, but our IT team is working on resolving the issue now. Dari and the cubs are still doing great, and we will keep you updated on them in our stories in the meantime🐯

Cubdate! 🐯🎉 Nakal and Suci took their first steps onto exhibit with their keepers and other Zoo staff looking on. This gave the cubs and Dari the opportunity to come out in a calm environment and get used to the space.

Meet Frodo! He was born Jan. 21 making him the first Zoo baby of 2024. Born to Betty & Pippin, he's the 49th African penguin chick hatched here. With valuable genetics, Frodo's here to make a splash! Excited to see him strut his stuff on Penguin Rock in a few months.

Wandering Wallaby Found! He was found in the service yard near rainbow lake on zoo property. Zookeepers spotted new wallaby tracks this morning which led them to him. The wallaby is back with his group at the hospital under observation and will be examined by our senior vet.

We’re excited to announce a new addition to the African Veldt! Lumi the bongo was born during the ice storm. Lumi means snow in Finnish. ❄️ She’s very brave and was eager to meet the rest of the herd and Buddy the red river hog. Thanks to animal staff for these sweet photos!

Memphis Zoo welcomes four Tundra wolf pups to Teton Trek! 🐺🐾 These four siblings, born April 25, 2023, bring a dynamic wolf pack back to Memphis. There is no set schedule for when they will be visible to the public, but you may catch them periodically exploring their exhibit.
Celebrating his 38th birthday, Mwelu is in the prime of his life! 🦍❤️ The birthday boy had so much fun at his dinosaur-themed birthday party! 🦕 In noble fashion, he sat back and let his friends enjoy the party first.

RED PANDA POUNCES! Keepers say this is how Mars and Lucy play. It’s a good sign for breeding because it’s a way they bond. More often then not the pair will breed when no one is around, but seeing things like this is promising!
Meet Fitz, Memphis Zoo's newest addition! This 6ft tall, 150-pound reticulated giraffe was born on April 2nd, coincidentally sharing his dad Niklas's birthday. Fitz can be seen on exhibit with mom Wendy this weekend!
We have our first baby of 2023! This sweet little creature is a Kirk's dik-dik. The calf was born on January 22 to parents Willow and Magic Mike. This is their 3rd offspring born at Memphis Zoo. This tiny antelope is native to East Africa.

Memphis Zoo announces the addition of two clouded leopards to our collection. “Kamala”& “Rajani” come to us from Nashville Zoo. The leopards moved in to one of our CHINA day rooms this week. The girls will need some time to adjust to their new space, so they won’t be visible yet.
Today, we celebrate National Panda Day with sweet Ya Ya! She got lots of bamboo, fun enrichment, and keepers put grapes, her favorite snack, all around her exhibit. Ya Ya has big plans to eat, sleep, and repeat all day long!
We are deeply saddened to share the loss of our Sumatran tigress, Ratu. Ratu has called the Memphis Zoo home since 2007 when she was 2 years old. She was beloved by her keepers and won the hearts of every zoo guest. Ratu served as an ambassador for Sumatran tigers.
IT'S A GIRL! We are thrilled to welcome a new addition to the African Veldt. Milele was born earlier this week. Her name means "forever" in Swahili because keepers feel they have been waiting forever for her arrival. Weather pending, Milele should be on exhibit very soon.
We're proud to announce the birth of 2, yes 2, bat-eared fox kits. They can be seen on exhibit inside Cat Country. We recommend being very quiet if you want to see them.

BABY NEWS 🎉 A Francois langur named "Raptor" was born at Memphis Zoo! Mom, Jean Gray, and baby are doing great. Visit Raptor at the CHINA exhibit. This birth supports the Species Survival Plan. Francois langurs are native to southern China and northern Vietnam.

Snow leopard Darhan visited the animal hospital for a routine physical exam. He received the full treatment—blood work, x-rays, dental care, and had his vision and ears checked out. He also got his claws
