Most head FB coaches “spring ball over...Monday time to grind baby. No days off”
Our HFC? “Coach these guys have been busting their tails for months. Let’s give them a week to get mind off football, recover and play games. I want them fresh for summer”
Enlightenment...kids first
@DerekAnnechino
Ours will essentially be two weeks. This is our last week of a regular classes and then we have finals. I think they have a 7-7 on June 11. I will have our female athletes only next week. Football has class year round so they need a break from me probably lol
@YorkStrength17
As a HC I always self imposed a dead period after spring football through final exams. Didn't come back until the first Tuesday of summer break (usually 2 weeks). I needed the break, too. Recharge those batteries and be ready for the long haul of June through hopefully December
@CoachDottavio
I think that’s easier to do for places that don’t have football classes. I think it’s tough for a Coach to give up two weeks worth of class time and let the kids just have fun. That’s why I was impressed. It’s easy to just cancel after school and say “go home”. Harder with class.
@YorkStrength17
In North Carolina the exam week is a dead period as is the week of the 4th of July and the 3rd week of July for the state coaches clinic.
@BillWyrick2
We can lift but not practice the clinic week in July. We don’t have an exam week. They take two exams each on two days. No dead period and teams will often practice that week. Normally we are done with school and spring ball same week. We started two weeks late this year.
@YorkStrength17
We take a week off at the 4th of July and then right before the season. My kids and coaches all need it. Plus our other kids not in state track just got off before we do summer camp/training. We also only do camp during camp week & don’t start summer strength until that is done.
