In Nigeria, 35% of girls are married before the age of 15 and 45% give birth before the age of 18. At the National Conference on Girls’ Education and Empowerment, Nigeria's Minister of Budget and Economic Planning pledged to fund girls’ education and address barriers faced by girls in different regions of the country. But commitments are only as strong as the actions behind them. Now, leaders must budget for girls’ needs and be transparent about how the money is spent. More via @voiceofnigeria at
