@JPriceOfMusic Yes — but too many companies use that line to wipe themselves of any culpability. Companies like TuneCore/Believe actively act in bad faith time and time again. Many DIY distributors don’t want to fix the problem. They’d rather allow it until someone makes a *lot* of noise.

@JPriceOfMusic Agreed, artists don’t want to sign to a major label anymore. It’s no longer appealing nor necessary for artists.

@JPriceOfMusic As someone that owns an indie distributor, I see it all of the time. Our artists put a ton of work into making a quality product and many are developing/emerging. And they should be paid the same per stream. It doesn’t send a great message to not pay out royalties on lower

@JPriceOfMusic I’m with you. And if someone is spending the same amount of time listening to an independent record, that shouldn’t be valued less. The logical thing I see — is that a lot of independent distributors need to do a better job of quality checking on their platforms.
