Yesterday, I had the honor of announcing ConnectFree Healthcare, our groundbreaking initiative that has been hailed as a "new revolution in medicine," at a joint press conference with the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine and the Governor of Kyoto Prefecture. When I first learned about the current state of data sharing between medical institutions over a year ago, I was shocked. Even today, tools like fax machines and CD-Rs are the backbone of medical communication; What's worse: in acute emergency situations, when a patient needs to be transferred to a specialized invasive medical facility, ambulances are forced to wait for data to be burned onto a CD-R before they can proceed.
