I really think people don't give Bill enough credit for how much he's able to get out of Goofy from an acting standpoint.
He's gotten more chances to flesh out Goofy than any actor who's not only voice Goofy before him, but any actor who's voiced any of the Mickey characters

Roger has hands down one of the most thankless jobs in the voice over industry.

Like the only other "Mickey and friends" actor I can think of that's also gotten to really flex their range as their character is Chris Diamantopoulos' Mickey and occasionally Russi as Minnie. But everyone else almost never get the kind of juicy material that Bill gets

Sonic having a lighthearted tone isn't inherently bad, despite the fanbase insisting it's offensively disgusting
The problem is the dialog and inconsistent characterizations. You can have solid writing and character WHILE still keeping a lighthearted tone.
Shounen Sonic needs to come back and we need a sonic game where everything is serious instead of lighthearted
