Over the last month or so I’ve been gathering info about what agents, front office personnel, etc. think about the Thunder. Here’s a thread of all the info I got. From free agents, draft picks, cap, and more.
*These are not my thoughts. These are things I was told*
Asked Buddy Hield about how this compares to the NCAA Final Four & he still doesn’t wanna talk about his run w/
@OU_MBBall
in ‘16 lol but he makes sure to stay locked in with em
“I’m always tapped into Oklahoma. Oklahoma is home. It’s where I was able to make a name for myself”
Some dope wholesome content here. Lindy Waters who is the only Native American in the NBA has about 30 people waiting for him after the game. Was his parents and about 20 or so kids. Shook all their hands, signed autographs, and took pics. Love to see it!
Talked to this fan. Her name is Sharee Farmer and she says Kenrich is her fav player but wanted something more unique. The Thunder shop sold her blanks and she got this beauty created. Even got it signed by JDub and wants Kenrich and JWill to sign it also
“There’s no reason that just bc you hit a few shots now to take a bad shot”
This was really mature from Chet. Shows why this team has been so successful
Asked why no one on this team really takes a “heat check.” Great answer. Also says it’s going up in pickup or a pro am lol
Since the Steven Adams Memphis era is over, I’m posting this cause it’s the best and my favorite Steven Adams Memphis video lol he definitely indulged in the culture lol
“I get tired when we land at 3 o’clock but my mind immediately goes to if I’m feeling like this and I’m not doing anything, these guys must be exhausted…I’m a sub-elite athlete”
😂😂😂
- Daigneault on if he gets fatigued during the season
Chet Holmgren is 3 blocks away from setting the Thunder rookie record for blocks in a season. Ibaka has it with 97 and he played 73 games. Chet will likely get it in LA and had only played 38 games lol insane
Through 10 games, the Thunder starting 5 (SGA, Chet, Giddey, Dort, JDub) is the highest scoring 5 man lineup in the league. Also 1st in blocks and steals and 3rd in assists. Only 10 games (they’ve actually only played 9) but this is pretty promising.
Jalen and Cody Williams are celebrating Cody joining
@jdubwttp
in the NBA by putting their sibling rivalry & love for
@BWWings
&
@starrylemonlime
on display AND by introducing the “3rd Williams brother” Barry (played by Jay Pharoahwith a funny mockumentary!
Jarace Walker was signing autographs when Marcus Sasser’s name was just called and he starts screaming and runs across the room to celebrate with the other Houston people in attendance
SGA even has his own game at Allstar weekend where you can win SGA themed prizes including a signed SGA jersey and the shades he always wears. Shirt kinda tough too
Jalen Williams (
@JdubPSCEO
) doing NBA media duties before game 3. Says this side of the business is a little hectic lol also, the jacket he has on is part of the reason the Thunder were named the best dressed team
I noticed that sometimes when Josh Giddey jumps, his hair doesn’t move so I asked him what exactly does he put in his hair. Lol said it’s something from Australia:
Idk what kinda ankles JDub has but they are ELITE cause no way he shoulda returned to the game after his ankle touching the ground like this lol

@jdubwttp
It’s also JDub’s birthday. He turns 22 today and normally the rookies sing happy birthday to whoever. He’s a rookie so he had to sing to himself lol happy birthday
@JdubPSCEO
!
Thunder roster heading into FA Sunday:
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Jalen Williams
Lu Dort
Chet Holmgren
Cason Wallace
Alex Caruso
Ousmane Dieng
Kenrich Williams
Jaylin Williams
Aaron Wiggins (TO)
Isaiah Joe (TO)
Nikola Topić
Dillon Jones
2 spots left
“I speak on behalf of the players and the team when we say how much we appreciate the fans being there for us that late in the morning”
- Josh Giddey on fans showing up at the airport at 2:30 in the morning to greet them after coming backing from Utah
Josh Giddey's exit interview was the most vulnerable he's been as a professional. Can tell the season weighed on him a lot. Answered every question thoroughly. Was extremely open. Got a little emotional.
Interviewed the newest member of the Thunder, 10th pick Cason Wallace. Echoes his statement about having a lot of fun in this team, talks about OKC in general, obviously the dope suit, and says he will have the best hair on the team. Also has a message for Thunder fans!
“The players like em….The world revolves around them, who cares what I think”
😂😂😂
- Mark Daigneault with a very interesting reason on why they started having shoot-around again
Thunder have had the best offense in the league in 2023 so I asked Aaron Wiggins what caused the change. Simple answer for him
“We have an Allstar. We got 2 rising stars” 😂😂
Jalen Williams (
@JdubPSCEO
) doing NBA media duties before game 3. Says this side of the business is a little hectic lol also, the jacket he has on is part of the reason the Thunder were named the best dressed team
Projected breakdown for Isaiah Joe contract by year:
24-25 - $10,714,286
25-26 - $11,571,429
26-27 - $12,428,571
27-28 - $13,285,714
*all $48 million is fully guaranteed. No word on if there's an option either way*
Most 30 point games in a players 1st 14 games of the season (modern NBA):
87 Michael Jordan - 12
07 Carmelo Anthony - 11
20 James Harden - 11
23 Luka Doncic - 11
06 Kobe Bryant - 10
17 Russell Westbrook - 10
23 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - 10
Chet playing one on one against Jared Butler. Lateral movement and mobility looks good. His handle is gonna be an underrated part of his game. Also good he’s working on defending on the wing bc he’s probably gonna get switch out on the wing a lot
Chet Holmgren and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander became the 1st pair of teammates in NBA history to both have 35+ points, 5+ rebs, 5+ assts, 2 stls, & 2 blks. Kind of a historic night for these two. Future is very bright for the Thunder.
The last time the Thunder had 2 guys put up 35 or more points in a game was 2-22-19 with Russ and PG. Chet and SGA just did it with SGA putting up 40 and Chet putting up 36
Thunder fans have completely taken over this whole section. In the 5 years I’ve been coming to Summer League I’ve never seen a fan base sit together like this lol
Nikola Topić mentioned how he hadn’t met anyone from the Thunder in person or been to OKC before being drafted. Mark Daigneault explains why he was their guy
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander needs 26 points tonight against the Grizzlies to be the guy who has scored the most points in their first 15 games to start a season in Thunder history. Russ has the record with 477
Thread of guys who have met with or talk to the Thunder talking about what it’d be like to play with them:
Jarace Walker up first and says JRE was his teammate at IMG:
Baylor’s Jeremy Sochan, who’s parents played at Panhandle St. talks to
@bso
on what it’d be like playing in OKC. Also talks about how he’d be one of the most stylish players in the league once the NBA money comes in.
THUNDER SCHEDULE UPDATE:
Thunder game against the Spurs on Jan 24th will now be on ESPN @ 8:30 local time instead of ABC and the game against the Rockets on Feb 27th will now be on TNT @ 9 local time. Extra national TV game for the Thunder
Caught up with Oklahoma’s own Trey Alexander (
@TrickyTrey23
) at the combine. Talked about what this moment is like, what it’d be like being the next guy from OK to get to the NBA, and putting on for OK
I asked Thunder head coach why he felt like it was important to speak on the Julius Jones case and if they have talked about it as a team. Here’s what he had to say.
Also talked to Trey (
@TrickyTrey23
) about the DEEP basketball tradition in the Alexander family and what it’d be like to be the one to get to the NBA and his dad who is the head coach at Douglas and led them to a state championship. He also says he’s the best Alexander. Lol
