It takes minuscule effort to change someones life - an invite, a call, an introduction, a how you doing text, a meme that actually makes ugly laugh - grateful to those who've helped me in seemingly small ways. I'll pay it forward.

"Do less". This. Excessive context switching eats away at your energy, brain power, and productivity. Simplifying is key.
1) Do less. Stop dividing your attention. 2) Do it right now. Once you have identified the essential, go fast. Maintain a bias toward action. 3) Do it the right way. Acting quickly doesn't mean acting carelessly. Get to work right away, but keep working on it until it's right.

Just finished the audiobook The Courage to Be Disliked. Tldr it was a 6 hr philosophical debate that defined happiness as simply the feeling of contribution to others (w/o a need for recognition). And I think that's the most beautiful thing ever. Highly recommend.

In our Infosec circle we hear people talk about multi-factor authentication as if it's obvious but the reality is very different. Twitter released their numbers -- only *2.3%* of Twitter users had any MFA method enabled during this reporting period.

In cutthroat cultures, people kiss up and kick down. They protect themselves by currying favor with people in power and exploiting those without it. In supportive cultures, people speak up and support down. They protect people without power by raising problems to those with it.

FOMO is an illusion of scarcity combined w fear of potential loss. Reason why it's useful in sales, persuasion, scams etc. is bc of human nature to maximize potential gain and prevent loss. But FOMO overload eventually nets guaranteed loss in form of overwhelm and distractions.
Monday motivation: You have to lose FOMO to be excellent. The old FOMO means Fear Of Missing Out. Your FOMO must mean Focus On My Opportunity.

@divinetechygirl I heard a fabulous talk earlier this year from @wendynather on security as a design issue. Love this quote: "What if they could design security to be as easy as a spoon? We don't need annual spoon awareness training." I've been sold ever since.
