Today, we remember Heath McDonald Gumm. E.O.W. January 24th, 2018. Prior to his service with #ACSO, Deputy Gumm served with the Cripple Creek Police Department. His dedication was recognized posthumously when he was promoted to the rank of detective.

Perimeter Catch. #ACSO Patrol deputies and our partners with @ThorntonPolice worked together early this morning to catch multiple suspects driving a stolen SUV. #BetterTogether #CommunityPolicing #FirstResponders

Eventually, the suspects lost control and skidded into the front yard of a home off Devonshire and McElwain Blvd. The suspects fled on foot, and ACSO deputies worked with TPD officers to quickly establish a perimeter to prevent their escape.

ACSO K-9s Tigger and Moose were then called into help track the suspects as they ran through several backyards. Tigger soon found the suspects hiding in a large shed. Everyone was taken into custody, and a deputies confiscated a stolen handgun at the scene.

Phone down, heads up!. This year, a new law prohibits holding, touching, or handling mobile electronic devices while driving. Including while stopped at red lights.

The same restrictions apply to non-handgun firearms, though those firearms can be kept in soft-sided containers if a locking device is installed on the gun. This law was passed to prevent gun thefts from vehicles, which are on the rise, putting the community at risk.
