Kep is an English Springer Spaniel and the first canine member of our team 🐾
She uses her keen sense of smell to sniff out leaks in underground water mains. And with over 34,000 km of mains state-wide, Kep's work goes a long way in helping us save water.
Australia’s first leak detection dog Kep has snouted out her largest leak discovery yet.
Sent to uncover why water was collecting near a very long buried pipeline, near Moorawa, our expertly trained springer spaniel isolated estimated leak rates of over 150L water per minute.

Our canine leak detection specialist Kep has just turned 4! 🐶

Happy birthday Kep, keep up the amazing work. 🎂
We use recycled water to recharge our aquifers in a process called Groundwater Replenishment. 💧
Many other places around the world also recycle water to add to their drinking water supplies. The key difference between the methods is where they put the water after it's treated.
100% of wastewater that enters our Margaret River Wastewater Treatment Plant is recycled.
Recycled wastewater is used to irrigate ovals, parks + more in the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River. The remaining recycled solid matter is converted into fertiliser, used on local woodlots.
After yesterday’s rain,
#Perth
used about 765m litres of

yesterday –about 316m litres less than we would expect on a normal summer’s day!
Switching off sprinklers when it rains makes a real difference.
