It’s why we tell friends and family to a) keep lines of communication open, b) do not talk shit about the abuser but discuss their actions and c) remember that it usually takes a number of times before someone permanently leaves an abuser
I think more people subscribe to the idea of the “perfect victim” than they realize.
The reality is that many victims fawn, are often devoted to their abuser and can lash out/parrot the statements of the person harming them and shaping their reality

We’ve had many calls to the Sex Worker Community Support Line about this exact thing. The guys were okay with the sex work when they were receiving the benefits but as soon as there was a divorce/breakup, they became the innocent father and the sex worker the harlot
