Congratulations to Dr Gerry Hughes, former Deaf teacher at St Roch’s, on the launch of his book “Bridging Our Differences”. Remarkable story of how Gerry overcame communication / literacy barriers to become the first Deaf person to sail solo around the world. Now, he’s an author.

Spent several periods today walking around the school - covered every subject, most teachers and many pupils. Struck by how overwhelmingly strong relationships are in the school and how this contributes to effective learning and teaching. Very lucky to have such a lovely school.

for the retirement mass of my old teacher- Frank Delury. He is the embodiment of the schools motto ‘Alios Adiuva’ (Help Others). Even when I had left 8 years, he still showed me the care and commitment he did when I was a pupil. A truly great man.
