Northern Kenya is vast & despite people assuming it’s all desert & camels, there’s a lot more beautiful gems to explore! I did an 8 day trip through Samburu, Marsabit and Turkana Counties. Day 1: Samburu County. We visited Buffalo Springs & Samburu National Reserves.

I am truly impressed. We’ve only used up KES 13.8M from the KES 30M m-changa we contributed. All these people have been assisted & this goes to show that we have an expenditure NOT a revenue problem. Budgeted corruption is expensive & should be dealt with.
This is the current breakdown, with 13,800,00 used and others reflecting tomorrow. Of course with receipts as well. Now show me anything like this with your corrupt bosses. Send your number I’ll send you money from my own pocket. Refuse to be used with 527!!!

Checked out The Shade in Nakuru and I was quite impressed by how such a simple structure could be so comfy and lovely. I’ve always been into the tiny home concept & staying here definitely made me love it even more. Exactly as pictured and the hosts were great.

Introducing Kenze Gorges which is situated in Kilome Hills (Makueni County). It’s a hilly area with a river that runs through some intriguing rock formations. It gets very hot during the day but the views are so worth it.

When I first heard of Kongo River, I assumed that it had something to do with Congo. However, the vibrant Kongo River is nestled along the stunning Diani Beach coastline and even has a mosque named after it: Kongo Mosque. We paid 100 entrance to the site & hopped onto a canoe.

Went to the Nairobi Festival today and I must admit that the park revamp was quite good. Apart from a few glitches when getting in due to the crowd, they did well considering it’s the first of its kind. I also loved how authentic the festival was. Proudly Kenyan 🇰🇪

Under the Swahili Tree is situated in Karen. Emma runs this establishment & she does an excellent job. Food, ambiance, service 10/10! Great place to go with family and there’s plenty of room for the kids to play.

I don’t think following rigid rules will help. In some cases there’s a trade off. For example living closer to work & spending less on fuel/transport/car maintenance costs. So one variable will increase (rent) and the other will decrease (transport costs).

One of the main things I look at when choosing a place to stay are the kitchen and bathroom. Why do Kenyan landlords get it so wrong? 😅 I have seen some crazy stuff out there. Ugly tiles on steroids and bathrooms that look like slaughterhouses. Yikes 😳

We camped at Samburu National Reserve by a riverbed. Considering the rains now, we were pretty lucky to get such a spot. Camping fee of KES 500 pp for East African residents.
