A California freeway collapsed in 2007 that was expected to take months to fix, but politicians worked to remove bureaucracy and red tape to get it fixed in 25 days. Let's make it happen for the SD -> LA Amtrak corridor. It's a choice not to.

San Diego implemented the most draconian rules in the country on scooters, causing 80% drop in usage and forcing most scooter operators out of the city. But scooters are important for the "last mile" to use public transit. A necessary piece for hitting our climate goals.

Currently, it takes 59 min to travel by train from Oceanside to Downtown San Diego via Amtrak or Coaster, comparable to a rush hour car commute, but slower than the 40 min no traffic drive time. Speeds already approach 90MPH, but most of the track is too curvy to get up to speed

This is great news! Lack of bus drivers has been one of the biggest reasons holding MTS back from increasing bus frequency.

Last Friday, we celebrated a BIG milestone for our bus operations, our largest graduating class of bus operators since the pandemic. This will play a vital role in our ability to increase services. Please join us in congratulating the newest members of the MTS team.

@sdmts @mrdelacruzin @altadena_guy Yes this presents a problem for those who perhaps have children or elderly parents without their own phones or cards. Allowing several transit passes on one phone would benefit transit riders

Fantastic news! 🚆🎉 This should increase speed and reliability of the Coaster between San Diego and Carlsbad/Oceanside. Both are very important for getting people to shift their commute to the train

Great news that @California_CTC has approved $103.3 million in funding to replace the 80-year-old wooden bridge over the Batiquitos Lagoon between Calsbad and Encinitas. Building a concrete, double-tracked bridge will ease congestion in the North County rail corridor. @SANDAG

@anshelsag The Airport Transit Connection project is separate from this plan and should hopefully be happening soon, before any of these projects.

@geolikestrains Lets see your favorite photos of the Trolley in front on Petco! We'd love to commission an actual artist to make a retro-style travel poster, but our budget right now can only afford AI

Housing & Transit, a winning combination! This is a fantastic project that will give students great housing and access without having to own a car. Reply with which other trolley stations you think is most in need of transit oriented housing development

This morning, the ribbon was cut to mark the completion of Union Grantville, the 250-unit residential complex developed just steps away from Grantville Station.  Residents will begin moving in next week, just in time for the SDSU Fall semester(a short 4 minute Trolley ride away).

@silvertank42 It's a clever color choice, but yeah it'll be interesting to see how they differentiate Orange and Copper

Cute name for the new trolley line, since copper oxidizes from Orange to Green

We're bummed by the vote as well. Millions of dollars could be better allocated to make public transit enticing, get people out of their cars, and actually decrease congestion. Instead, the city just approved to be another example of how widening a freeway doesn't reduce traffic.

We are deeply disappointed with the council’s unanimous vote in moving this legacy project forward. It goes against and shows a lack of commitment toward their stated climate goals.
