I don't think it's microsofts fault. All the blame should just be on crowdstrike.
Only fault microsoft did is allowing third party code to run in the kernel, but that existed since the beginning of the winNT kernel anyways.

As long as you know how the engine is working internally(runtimes when game is compiled etc)it shouldn't be an issue to use an engine to make games. The worrying thing is when you get used to the abstractions game engines do for you without learning how it does those abstractions

ia-64 = intel architecture 64
ia-32 = intel architecture 32
ia64 is x64 (very loosely though) and itanium is just a name, like how pentium is.
you can fact check me, I may be wrong. But this is how I learned it.

Just use a graphics library, (low end like openGL, or easier ones like SDL2 or raylib) then learn your programming language, your graphics library, and basic cs stuff very well, then it'll be easier in the end
