I have Matlab code that runs on a small problem. I need to scale it up (by a lot). The problem is parallelizable. I also want to use a very fast language. What's the best language/cloud platform combo to use for this (fast language + easy parallelization)? C/C++/Python on AWS?

A good strategy for getting your paper accepted to @AcmSIGecom EC is calling it "X: Evidence from Y" (8 submitted, 5 accepted, cf. overall acceptance rate of 20%). Your paper is theoretical? No problem: call it, say, "EFX Exists for Three Agents: Evidence from Math."

@florianederer @goal I love this idea of putting together a team of players from non-qualified countries and adding it to WC. Maybe put a cap of 2 players from 1 country. Doing it at WC right away may be a stretch, but maybe start with something like Confederations Cup or a continental championship.

@benedictevans No, it does not. Search ads can work with zero first-party data. They can work using just the search query that the user submitted. There is no expectation of privacy re: that query, since the user explicitly asked the search engine to give it results related to that query.

@florianederer At the local level, excessive concentration is probably undesirable. But aggregation *across* markets may easily be welfare-improving. Having 3 or 4 global conglomerates is not necessarily bad. But having a global duopoly is probably not a good outcome.
