UPDATED Jan 2022
If you're interested in
#crowdsafety
or
#eventsafety
then there are a lot of great accounts on here you should follow.
There's a VERY active global community active on safety.
These threads will point you in the direction of those accounts.
THREAD
I’d genuinely be lodging a complaint during and officially afterwards.
Why do people think everyone else on the flight wants to ‘enjoy’ what they enjoy?
The ignorance is astounding.
Does ANYONE in government realise how damaging this pattern of leaking NPHET advice, then sending some ministers onto Sunday radio and TV shows as harbingers of doom, then giving us no detail til the Monday actually is?!?
It's honestly disgusting.
There genuinely seems to be nobody in Government or the civil service who actually understands risk.
Concepts like 'acceptable risk', 'confirmation bias', appropriate assessment of risk and more all seem completely alien to them all.
They talk of the 'risk' from COVID...
@mittenbery
1. Nobody should have to use headphones on a plane simply to drown out what they’re being forced to endure because of others’ lack of consideration.
2. I doubt there are many sets of headphones that would effectively drown out what’s in that video.
Thanks though.
This shite is embarrassing.
Elected people who don’t know what they’re talking about, clearly don’t try to understand things, just want to grandstand and think they’re great.
Fucking joke shop.
A moment of tension and confusion as TD Peter Fitzpatrick accuses Ryan Tubridy and Dee Forbes of "jumping ship at the same time" from RTÉ.
"Ryan's still under contract," says Noel Kelly.
@homeless_cafe
This is actually crazy.
Failing any better solution,
@SafeEventsIE
is happy to assist in any way we can.
We can arrange some food safety training. We may be able to help sort a water provision, given we do it regularly for temporary events.
Not sure how else we might help.
Met a poor
@leinsterrugby
supporter at the
#MUNvLEI
match. He was all alone and in the middle of the
@Munsterrugby
season ticket holders with us.
Brought him for pints, to Abra for taco fries and then dropped him to Dolan's for a gig.
Score for him.
@GAA_Heritage
😂😂
Sound.
Perhaps I don’t enjoy traditional Irish music and wouldn’t fancy it shoved down my throat on a flight?
Or yeah. Maybe all the other stuff you said there, insightful, unidentified internet person.
Good stuff.
@JMNeethling
@CJStander
Thank you for lending him to us for so long. We know you all made sacrifices.
He will always be one of us and you guys will always be so so welcome back here.
Very few players have embodied what it truly means to BE a
@Munsterrugby
player more than CJ.
Thank you both.
#SUAF
Thank you to Dave, John and Louis in
@louis_copeland
for making me an amazing suit in which to marry the beautiful
@suzi_o_neill
I have never properly enjoyed a suit until wearing this one.
I’ll never understand why people have an issue with bandwagon jumpers.
There’s NOTHING to be ashamed about getting behind our women’s hockey time given their amazing performances in the
#HWC18
.
We can’t all love & follow all our national sports teams at all times.
I run a business in an industry that's been mandated shut for most of 2020.
We've seen a MASSIVE drop in turnover.
We've managed to keep our small Team of 4 on payroll.
We are looking forward to a better 2021.
Hopefully.
The absolute scum setting fire to Dublin, attacking cops, and looting shops do not give a single shit about the victims of the attack today.
It’s simply an excuse for them to indulge their base, racist notions.
They’re scum.
Plain and simple.
Looking for a reason.
Gardaì, like all ‘resources’, are finite.
There are only so many of them to go around. Always. Irrefutable fact.
I wonder if some of the angry shouty people who are angry and shouty about crime in inner city Dublin realise THEY occupy Garda time with their angry shoutiness?
@ciarancannon
@GardaTraffic
Don’t be daft. It doesn’t confuse anything.
It simply suggests that wearing dark clothing when cycling a bike at night - particularly with no lights - might not be the safest thing.
You don’t have to argue everyone as if cyclists are always in the right. They’re not.
Hey folks - need recommendations for an amazing wedding photographer please...possibly based in and around Limerick...possibly not, but that's where the wedding will be...
Not asking for a friend. I'm getting married it seems.
RT maybe? Cheers!
Outdoor events. Not yet.
Lots of space. Static and dynamic space considerations easily managed.
An industry of professionals who can and want to show we can do this safely.
People invested in doing it right so others can follow suit.
Give us (our industry) a shot.
@DannyCipriani87
Fair comment. Mostly…
I think rugby fans may seem to ‘take it personally’ as Farrell (1) doesn’t seem to learn, (2) never seems contrite in the immediate aftermath on the pitch / in the bin and (3) because he risks seriously injuring fellow players every time he does this.
So
@hollyshortall
& many others had to see this today.
I’ve blurred the image as it’s fucking disgusting.
If you come across these evil people displaying this stuff, call the cops.
It’s an offence under Section 7 of Criminal Justice/Public Order Act, 1994.
See 2nd pic.
@susie_dent
Dearest Susie.
We have needed this word forever.
Please enlighten us so that we may go forth and use this word as regularly as required - what, pray tell, is the collective noun for multiple throttlebottoms?
For there ARE so, so, so many of them...
Nice man on the Last Word just said BOI have spent 1 billion recently on their 'banking apps'.
Where. The. Fuck. Has. All. That. Money. Gone?
Jesus their apps are still awful.
@BrianGarrigan
There’s zero evidence of any ‘young lady’ in this video, Brian.
The attitude and foul language of the woman to which you are referring is typical of what I’d expect of people putting up those signs.
Was a permit granted for the signs?
No. No it wasn’t.
Spare a thought for poor Mike Brown.
With Hartley gone off and no Chris Ashton, Brown needs to be a big enough prick on the pitch for all 3 of them.
#ENGvWAL
#6Nations
The 'test event' last night is actually insulting to an entire industry.
❌ Nothing was actually tested.
❌ Nothing will be learned.
❌ Nothing will be gained.
The only good thing is some people got to work and enjoy a gig. HUGE value in that but none beyond that.
🤷🏽♂️
I'm delighted to have been named as one of
@healthandsafety
's '40 Under 40'.
I love working in
#crowdsafety
&
#eventsafety
& will continue to do what I can to help our young industry develop & improve.
Congrats to all the 160+ nominated & my fellow 39.
Any of you nice Twitter peeps know a great graphic designer looking for a full-time gig?!
Ideally based in our office in Dublin mostly but it can be a fully remote thing for the right person and fit with us, I'm sure.
RT maybe?
Cheers.
Here
@AskSmythsToys
- (1) your brand is being used to promote a hateful website that spreads dangerous, xenophobic, racist lies and (2) blocking those that bring it to your attention is childish and a major social media etiquette faux pas for a business.
Sort your shit out.
Had a good site visit today for an event happening in Dublin in December.
Yes. You read that properly.
An event. Running for a couple of weeks. Outdoors. That may just help some of us stay sane and enjoy Christmas a little.
@mistereatgalway
I love Ireland and the food culture here.
Everything here is bloody expensive.
That said, tweets like this, which pounce on someone else’s tweet that didn’t even compare the price to Ireland (may have been implicit, perhaps) don’t do the industry any favours, to my mind.
Lads. Let’s just clear up a few things.
1. It’s Pancake Tuesday. Not pancake day.
2. No alternatives should be termed pancakes. If you’re determined to make something out of buckwheat and quinoa and watercress then call it something else. It’s not a pancake.
Sound.
I'm delighted to have been confirmed as a Fellow of the Institute of Place Management.
@PlaceManagement
I take what we do in planning and running
#events
for large
#crowds
in (often) challenging places seriously.
I'm looking forward to engaging with colleagues in the IPM.
600,000 people vaccinated in one day in the UK.
303 vaccinated in one day here.
What. The. Actual. Fuck is wrong with our ridiculously inept and inactive Government?
Genuinely. What the fuck are they playing it?
Put. The. Vaccines. In. People. Faster.
Please and thanks.
For what it's worth:
We
@SafeEventsIE
will partner with any reputable promoter looking to put on a show that proves we can do it safely and properly.
We will leverage all our experience, expertise and contacts to plan & manage a gig / gigs.
Our industry needs to get going.
My Dad passed away this day twelve years ago.
He, like me, wasn't the most sentimental of people but I think he'd like that we have made his childhood home our family home.
He was a great man.
Genuinely warms my heart watching the reactions online to
#WildLights
in
@DublinZoo
.
The team in the Zoo deserve so much credit for making this happen.
It’s a superb event and they have succeeded in making this year’s more spectacular than last year’s sell-out run!
Lecturers should be practitioners.
In the same way we always preach that the ideal graduate, on paper, will have a qualification as well as experience, the same is true of lecturers.
They should be walking the walk as well as talking the talk.
Thoughts?
@johnconnors1990
So it’s grand for them to break in and steal bread?
Fuck sake.
Condoning robbery / looting on any level is wrong and ill-advised. You’ve done yourself no favours with this I don’t think.
Thank you all for the lovely messages.
We had a beautiful day.
@ClontarfCastle
looked after us wonderfully and we are now enjoying a few days in
@theshelbourne
in lieu of the original planned honeymoon.
@CellaH26
Delighted for you!
Wouldn’t it be great to have the choice between the two?
If you wouldn’t prefer the music, then perhaps you’d not enjoy being subjected to it!?
I think so.
Little raw video from right before we opened doors to the F1 After Race Concerts in Saudi.
Gonna be doing more like this I reckon.
No editing or production value but that might be the charm!??! 🤣
Probably only of interest / use to
#eventprofs
I’d imagine.
May have a nice project for a freelance event manager with an immediate start.
Probably a 3 month / 3.5 month gig based in our office in Dublin City centre.
Responsibility for programming & managing a festival with the support of our full-time Team.
RT maybe? Cheers.
To repeat January numbers and impacts would involve SUCH a wild swing in how things are proceeding and have been...who is catching COVID, how sick they are getting etc...that the risk is NEGLIGIBLE.
If you understood risk properly that might be clearer to you.
Come on.
I'm enjoying being out in Saudi along with our extended
@SafeEventsIE
Team.
MANY more to join us before Soundstorm happens next month.
It's a big one and we are enjoying the hard work.
#eventsafety
#crowdsafety
@thepaulwilliams
Crusaders, Leinster, Sharks and Munster.
You'll need Munster. Alien rugby matches will get ugly. Some at least. Munster will find a way to win an ugly match.
We will be hiring in
@SafeEventsIE
soon to service established & new clients / projects.
Titles may change (these are off the top of my head) but roles along the lines of:
🟢 Project / Operations Coordinator
🟢 Project / Operations Assistant
🟢 Trainee Safety Advisor
If you're involved in
#events
#eventsafety
#crowdsafety
anywhere around the world, be sure you're tapping into the extremely active international community.
We share and learn from one another and, without that, all our jobs are tougher.
Some suggestions...
[THREAD: 1/?]
@Davidcampese11
@Munsterrugby
Perhaps he’s a good coach? Recommendations from outgoing coaches and those around the club is nothing new, as you should know well Mr. Campese.
Now, wind your neck in and let’s see how Johann goes. Good man.
Paul Reid on the radio talking about how 'we can't have another January'...you're right, Paul.
We can't. Like, we actually can't. In all probability, we can't.
And that's because of where we are with vaccinations and how the MOST vulnerable are now vaccinated.
€120k a year to run a national charity isn’t outrageous.
My mother ran a national charity in a voluntary capacity for 30 years while working fulltime so don’t @ me altruism etc.
Charities are businesses and need top talent to run them. That generally costs some money.
So hold on…
Noel Kelly is in trouble for developing a successful business?
Irish ‘media personalities’ are in trouble for trying to make as much money as they can and get sponsorship deals etc.
What the fuck, like?
So
@Wimbledon
begins today.
My mother and I will be there for Ladies Finals Day on Centre Court this year.
We have been talking about doing this for so many years.
I actually can't wait.
#Wimbledon
Having worked doors in Limerick during the period
@Rubberbandits
are referring to, having been involved in a range of hairy incidents and having lost my boss and friend to the gangs I question, I echo this.
Limerick is a fucking super city. Always has been.
Can we once and for all dispel the notion that you’ll get stabbed or shot in Limerick? There was a dodgy period in mid 2000s, caused by a small group. It’s a safe city, with lovely people that doesn’t have a tonne of money, and shitty rumours don’t help this.
A wide range of representative
#events
industry bodies have joined together to form the Event Industry Alliance to face the COVID crisis with a united front.
The Irish event industry has received ZERO support & the Irish government needs to engage constructively with industry.
‘It’s been a hard watch for Warren Gatland’, says the commentator.
Fuck Gatland.
He’s getting PAID to watch this shite.
It’s the rest of us who are truly suffering here.
#ENGvWAL
Anyone bitching that the Minister for Health seems to have gotten a quick turnaround on his COVID test results really needs to take a long hard look at themselves.
For fuck sake.
Bad & all as we may believe our government to be, we need them functional & healthy.
Fuck sake.
With everything going on in Dublin city tonight, I find myself more thankful than I already was for our frontline emergency personnel.
Ambulance responded extremely quickly to aid one of our team working in Dublin tonight.
Scary times. For lots of reasons.
Be safe, folks.
Social media isn't the problem.
In the same way cars are not to blame for drivers causing accidents, social media is not to blame for how people choose to use it.
As always PEOPLE are the problem.
Personally - I couldn’t be prouder of Elaine & our Team on this one.
It was a HUGE undertaking. Bigger than we all understood, it’s fair to say!
It was a lot of long days and a lot of hard work but the end result speaks for itself.
Well done
@fleadhcheoil
& all involved.
And that’s a wrap on the record-breaking
@fleadhcheoil
for 2018.
500,000 people enjoyed the week-long celebration of all things Irish music and culture.
Elaine led our extended Team on this one and we are delighted to have been a part of it.
Now, some rest is needed.
@LeoVaradkar
Hi
@LeoVaradkar
.
The
#events
industry in Ireland is on its knees. We were the first to shut down and we will be the last to resume.
Promoters are looking to do shows. We have the skills to do them safely.
We have planned & managed many events you've attended yourself.
Jesus, I see that evil prick is at it again.
Nobody gives a shit about what you think other than your little band of anti-establishment cronies.
Go spout your vile drivel to them in a room somewhere and leave decent society alone.
Good lad.
My fee for an upcoming international event rests on the result of the
#EngvIre
game tomorrow.
We win, client pays the figure I’ve proposed to charge.
England wins, then the (English) client pays the figure he initially proposed.
Come on Ireland!
#sixnations2018
My Dad died just into 2nd of January in 2008 and we are all pretty sure he held on so as not to pass away on New Year's Day.
He wouldn't have like to have ruined that day for people.
I think about him a lot around Christmas time. He was a good man.
