We are pleased to have been able to add 4 more locations for our grab and go lunch service while school is closed. We will now be offering lunch at a total of 9 sites during the weekdays from March 16-March 27. Please see the graphic for details on locations and times.

Governor Baker announced that all schools in Massachusetts, including the Lowell Public Schools, will now be closed for the remainder of the school year. We will continue with our remote learning instruction for the rest of the school year.

ALERT: Earlier today, Governor Baker announced that all schools in Massachusetts, including the Lowell Public Schools, will now be closed until Monday, May 4, 2020.
Here are some 1st day photos from Stoklosa Middle School. A different look than previous 1st days of school, but our teachers were making the best of it! Teachers who were going to have in-person classes still taught from their classrooms, engaging with students remotely instead.
Starting this Monday, we will be offering meal service at 3 more locations, for a total of 11 sites during the weekdays while school is closed. The 3 new sites are the Morey, Stoklosa & Westminster Village Apartments. Other locations will remain the same. Full details on flyer:

In honor of Teacher Appreciation week, we had all principals in the district, along w/Superintendent Boyd & cabinet members send a virtual message to our teachers. They are posing with a letter so that together they spell out the phrase "THANK YOU LOWELL PUBLIC SCHOOLS TEACHERS".
We are still offering lunches for Lowell Public Schools students at 9 sites during the weekdays while school is closed. Additionally, you will now be able to pick up breakfast for the next morning when you pick up that day’s lunch. More details here:
We are excited to announce Liam Skinner (right), current principal of the Daley Middle School, has been named new Chief Schools Officer for LPS. Daley AP Robert Doyle (left) has been named interim Daley principal. Both start new roles in July. Congrats!
Given the current circumstances, we will be continuing w/our remote learning instruction during the previously scheduled April Vacation week. We feel this decision will help families & staff maintain the momentum & routines that have been established w/our remote learning plan.

Phase 1 of the LHS Project is well underway! Suffolk broke ground on the $343M project in Oct of '20 w/the demo of the 75 Arcand Dr building. Construction of the steel structure for the new gym began earlier this week. This phase is expected to be completed in the spring of '22.
The last day of the 2019-2020 school year for the Lowell Public Schools will be Monday, June 15, 2020. This date was set at the Lowell School Committee meeting Wednesday night.

650 air purifiers were delivered today/are being installed in schools, so we can move forward w/our plan for in-person learning. Students in grades 1-12 who received an in-person assignment via the lottery will report for the 1st day of in-person instruction on Mon., Sept. 28.

These enrichment opportunities are optional activities to support learning at each grade level & across different subjects like ELA, math, science, social studies, art, & Phys Ed.
Today marks the last day of the ‘19-‘20 school year for the Lowell Public Schools! It’s definitely an unusual end to the school year, but thanks to all of the students, families teachers, principals, admin & staff for working together to make the most of this difficult situation!
