I am so extremely sad about losing my friend and great inspiration, Eddie Van Halen. I love him and his contribution to the world. He was the greatest guitar player ever, and at the same time, so kind and compassionate. He supported me and my family in every way possible.

A few years ago I met the great Stephen Hawking. His presence was powerful. I got emotional when I heard he passed. I felt kind of close to him, because we shared a similar, tough situation. I hope he is proud of what he gave the world. Now I am the elder person with ALS.

When he first came to my house he cried with so much empathy. He felt bad about giving me a guitar because I couldn't play it. Once he got more comfortable, he played the CD of the title track of 'A Little Ain't Enough' so he could point out to me his favorite lick that I played.

The doctor felt it was best to admit him to the hospital, which is what we are doing. Right now, Gary and Serrana are on the way. I will spend the night with him tonight. On his way, he said, "gonna get this fixed. I love you." Eternal optimist and we are all taking his lead.
