Surprise y’all 😏🫡✌️I’ll be opening up for
@Philbow55
11/20 at The Ark in Ann Arbor. Michigan people, would love to see you there! Thanks again brother, appreciate you!
The jewel of Downriver, MI
@itsturnerporter
will be opening the show at
@annarborark
on November 20. Reserved seats are SOLD OUT, but there's general admin with your name all over it. See you there!
Alright here’s my Great American Bar Scene take (don’t kill me)
First off: No artist owes you anything. Are some songs rehashed shit he’s done before? Sure. I’m trying to think of an artist who doesn’t do that.
Is a bunch of it off putting? Yep. a couple months back 1/5
Point being… one of the biggest artist of this generation decided to put something out that is jarring, unpolished (sometimes abrasively so) and that is GOOD FOR MUSIC. A weird pseudo concept album that is going to go gold. Just my take 🫡
Oak Island is dope and has The National vibes big time. Bass Boat is bon iver fare, obvi The Way Back is the same motif. John Moreland track is good, Bruce feature is just ok and obvi an “I’m on fire” riff. I could go on and on. 4/5
To all the new folks here: howdy, I’m Turner Porter. I’ve been a country folk songwriter for as long as I can remember.
Based out of Detroit currently, I try to keep my current work as raw and real as possible. Recommended if you like Zach Bryan, Jason Isbell, Tyler Childers ✌️
I got laid off from my day job, so I’m going to be taking a break here to focus on $ and some other stuff. Love you guys, I’ll prob be back in a week 🫡
It’s probably his most divisive from what I’m seeing. And he won’t take your advice and he’ll keep doing whatever he wants. And when that produced Zach Bryan record comes along, you can hate that, too ✌️3/5
I love that the country music industry’s reaction to Tyler putting a gay storyline in his last music video was to hard launch the bizarro version of him 🤣
It’s officially been ten years since I took a drink of alcohol.
Since then we’ve moved 6 times (NYC to LA to NYC and then back to Michigan), toured the country and juggled a million impossible quests.
I somehow lost my friends here. I don’t see any of the deep homies, the vagrants of this hellsite, my feed cursed by “top 15 destinations” and political discourse. Whether they left or the algorithm obscures my vision, I miss this place circa 2022
@AHoll82
That’s what I’m saying. He is just doing what he does and it’s actually unique, artistic and experimental that’s super good for music culture in general. I don’t look at him as a country artist, I just look at him as a songwriter, and he can write bars
Any artist out there there that is doing this with no financial help from family and supporting your own while holding down a job (or not):
you are not alone and being a creator right now is hard as heck. Much respect and much love from a simple downriver boy.
It’s my birthday today 🫡
I feel shifts in the way I interface with the world right now. Big doors are closing and opening. I’ve been slacking with music but the songs stay in my head, waiting to be recorded. Shows coming. I don’t feel guilty. I keep going. Love you guys ✌🏻
He said his favorite record was The bon Iver self titled. That’s why we get spare sprinkled piano, “choir” parts (because lord knows guy ain’t using auto tune) and hell even a song titled “towers”.
Point being, is it the best record he’s put out or the worst? 2/5
I had a lot of fun watching the new Netflix documentary THE GREATEST NIGHT IN POP. So much fun that I revisited "We Are The World" ranked the singers based on performance and vibe.
Tomorrow night I’ll be opening up for big dog Cole Chaney at Lager House here in dear ol Detroit. If you’re around, come say hey! Doors at 7pm, I’m on solo at 8pm sharp 🫡
‘Burnout’ is now streaming everywhere 🕊️ Click through my link in bio to listen now.
Sounds like I cut an acoustic folk track in an industrial warehouse and for good reason. It’s the roughest recording I could put out. I’ll explain in due time.
Love you guys, Godspeed
TP
Zach Bryan apologizes for ‘Kanye > Taylor’ tweet which led him to deactivate:
“I love Taylor’s music and pray you guys know I’m human and tweet stupid things often. Hope one day I can explain this to her […] I’ve been going through a hard time in my own life and I think I was
It’s official y’all 🫡 feels really wild
I am but one person and this has always been a solo project. Excited to dig in and get going.
I will still be performing tracks off of my new EP but the self-titled Ferdy record will live in its own world.
Much love!
If anyone took the torch after John Prine passed, it’s John R. Miller. He isn’t a direct rip like a lot of guys I hear, he basically is making that style of songwriting for this century and it’s stellar
If you or anyone you know has a problem with alcohol, do not hesitate to reach out to me. Dealing with a situation a friend is in that is absolutely heartbreaking. Don’t wait to figure out what your rock bottom is. Just don’t. I will literally send you my number and we can talk.
Never posted much of kiddo on here, but 😏
1. He’s doing super well and yells at me all the time
2. He’s asking you to buy a hat or a shirt at so papa can get into the studio.
Link in bio as well ✌🏻
P.S. - 4 month sleep regression rules!
Back off of here for a sec but before I go, i’ll be at Pig & Whiskey fest in Ferndale Michigan 7/12 opening up for
@luceromusic
🤌🏻 on at 7pm, totally free and a good frickin’ time. Last year was killer and stoked to be back 🫡
Shot from my sisters wedding 🫡 played a few covers and some originals for them. Beautiful day for sure.
September 5th with Cole Chaney is coming up quick. I’ll be rocking it solo. Grab a ticket and I’ll see ya there ✌️
I can’t believe it’s been a year since I started consistently gettin wild on this website. This is my favorite place to connect with people across any socials, hands down. Great meeting everyone on here and hope to meet you in person real soon 🫡
Im an outsider. I’ve never fit into a local scene musically. Never felt like people wanted to connect.
Still do my best to talk to people, favors, root for them regardless. I don’t care. I make my music for me and for the people who believe in it. Don’t let a scene define you.
Reclaiming the room. My buddy taught me some Blake Mills shit where you put a strip of cigarette pack cardboard in your strings down by the bridge. Percussive, weird. Tuning is CGDGGA with a capo way up. Sounds better loud but baby room is underneath my home studio.
Caught one big ol’ pike that i missed with the net today, but got out on the water and breathed in some of that fresh air. Next time I’ll actually prep my tackle, truly a mess 😅
Whoever is rolling this site marketing out does not understand the impatience we have right now for answers 😅 almost 12 hours since the countdown ended
Who is playing Americanafest? who got an official no from them and still wants to play?
Finalizing some things but looking for folks who are gonna be in nashville 9/22-23 and want to play 🫡 shoot me a DM or reply
I hope your weekend was as good as mine. Mental health is important y’all. Mine was at an all time low over the last month. Spent a ton of time outside and with people I love.
Regained the urge to actually put music out into the world before my baby boy comes. More soon folks.
This is the one I’m actually most stoked on. Opening up for Cole Chaney in September. Didn’t feel like waiting to spill the beans on this one🫡✌️
@KickstandMI
Excited to get back on it and announce the last of the rustbelt singles. “Burnout” is about as raw as I can get. Just me, an acoustic and the long road ahead. Pre-save in bio, out April 30th ✌🏻
My first 1000+ like tweet and I’m sure it’ll get taken down at some point. Here’s to the hot takes from people that like REM, people that like Isbell, people that hate Zach Bryan’s crowd and people that hate Isbell 😅
Surprise solo set this Saturday 9/21 2:30pm at DIY street fair in Ferndale! I’m going to eat a crave case from
@WhiteCastle
right before the set just to see what happens!
Less than two weeks until this heater drops. ‘Burnout’ is an acoustic alt country ripper that’s pretty autobiographical and rough around the edges. I wrote it with “let it ride” in mind.
Excited to wrap up this series of singles and get to the EP. April 30th, presave in bio 🕊️
