Yup. My experience in nearby Cobb County Jail was almost identical to this description. 9 women to a 6x6 holding cell, metal benches, bright lights, no sleep, freezing temps, vomit on the walls, no amount of banging on the door would be paid any mind

I will never understand why the state thinks incarceration would ever "rehabilitate" or "redeem" incarcerated ppl, rather than harm them, & often further radicalize them toward the abolition of the prison industrial complex. 5/5

One of us was beaten & held in solitary, as was a woman we met who was not our co-defendant. We were deprived of food, water & sleep, & when we asked for food or water, guards shouted at us & taunted us. Crowded into small holding cells. Not given bedding in freezing temps. 2/

They held ppl whose bonds were already paid for many hours. Some of the women we met were arrested bc their husbands had been beating them & the cops were called- meanwhile, their husbands remained free. 4/

Wish I had seen this annotation of the Atlanta 61 case earlier.
We’ve come back to the text of the indictment several times in class this fall. It’s a truly jarring case study in the use/abuse of political theory as a weapon of state repression.

Yes! Sex need not be moralized as either pos or neg. Sex is highly contextual, subjective, & laden w power dynamics. Theorizing & enacting a destituent feminism which exits this binary of sexual politics, rather than affirms it, is crucial- autonomy & consent is sexual liberation
