The promise in 50's was that technology would be so great we could all live comfortably with a 3-hr work week. But capitalists broke the promise. As tech increased worker productivity, they cut workers, then used job scarcity to cut pay and steal the wealth for themselves.

Exactly! That was the *entire* *point* of those high tax brackets. The execs and investors would *not* take the cash because they'd just lose it all to taxes. But they also couldn't leave it as cash profits because it would be taxed. So they paid workers!
