What a season. What a day. My heart is full.
No better way to wrap up this unforgettable experience than with one last sports-tear, compliments of my dear friend, Tom Grieve.
Travis Jankowski didn’t make that catch tonight by accident. It’s more than his incredible talent, too. He prepares for that play every single day. He may only get the chance once or twice in his career - but he is ALWAYS anticipating that play. We talk about it quite a bit. 1/
The most ironic element of this Rangers post-season is that the disappointment of losing the division on the final day of the season might have been the key to getting to the World Series.
It gave them road-field advantage in the ALCS.
A huge thank you to Rangers fans and the Texas
@Rangers
organization for an amazing 7 seasons.
This was a really difficult decision, but one based on family.
Hard to express how special this day has been. What a tremendous honor to spend an afternoon poking around in the White House and celebratimg the 2023 World Champs.
ALCS Game 7 tonight! Enjoy responsibly.
Bruce Bochy? Never lost a Game 7 - 2012 NLCS (SF vs. STL) & 2014 World Series (SF vs. KC).
Dusty Baker. Never won a Game 7. 2002 World Series (SF vs. LAA), 2003 NLCS (Cubs vs. FLA) & 2020 ALCS (HOU vs. TBR).
Got a little excited about this yesterday. Happy to let the professionals do the heavy lifting today. Sentiment remains the same.

No other sport can do what baseball does. My heart is so full and happy for America's pastime tonight. What a phenomenal, beautiful and exciting ballgame. Congrats to

The Rangers did a fantastic job handling Brandon Pfaadt's best offering - his sweeper.
He threw 13 of them outside the strike zone and the Rangers only chased four times.
And then they crushed his changeups.
Infielder Marcus Semien and the Texas Rangers are in agreement on a seven-year contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.

had the sides close.

I hope you are right, but fear the Rangers will not see game 7. (Feel free to screen shot this with the caption “this didn’t age well” if I’m wrong) .
Can’t say I’m shocked.
It’s a fierce rivalry featuring highly decorated managers, superstar-laden lineups, exciting rookies and some gigantic names in pitching.
The Rangers come home after a .500 roadie that started in Houston, then to Detroit and wrapped with a win in Atlanta. All coming at the end of a stretch of 17 games in 17 days.
Objectively good.
But it certainly made the day a little better. And it was a great reminder of why we love baseball so much.
I’m really happy for Janko. He lives for this. And I’m grateful that I got to see it in person.
Plus, it won the damn game!!
Anyway, sure is a good thing we have replay review. I’m always amazed at how it swoops in to save the day and make sure our athletic contests aren’t perverted by crappy calls.

Tremendous recognition and honor for two of the best in the business. Congrats to

- named Texas Sportswriter and Sportscaster of the year by the
@NSMASportsMedia
. Very well deserved!
And, finally, with 106% confidence, I offer this prediction:
Rangers use 7 pitchers, Lowe delivers the decisive hit/HR and Leclerc pitches a clean 9th.
Rangers 3, Astros 1
Here’s a weird one: every pitcher to start for the Rangers in this postseason is in his 30s.
Meanwhile, the Astros haven’t used a single starting pitcher in his 30s.
Best news one could get today: deGrom says he’s all good. Plans to make next start. Jon Gray is good, too. HS played catch the last two days and says he’ll make his next start as well.

The reasoning, FWIW: "The catcher’s initial positioning was illegal and his subsequent actions while not in possession of the ball hindered and impeded the runner’s path to home plate."
Grateful for all the laughs we had together and fortunate to have enjoyed seven fantastic years together. This is a tremendous opportunity for my buddy to be home with his family. As much as I’ll miss
@CJNitkowski
, I’m happy for him and his loved ones. Congrats ATL!

@CJNitkowski
and I used our off day in New York to get to the bottom of things. Huge thanks to
@MLB
for hosting us and entertaining our questions.
