@MartyTa94849826
I saw Trump attempt to sway the testimony of a witness in real time during the first impeachment. We heard witness testimony that suggested Trump sent a message to her prior to the Jan 6 Committee hearings in an attempt to influence her testimony. He has the ethics of a mob boss.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida is currently under water. Insurance companies are abandoning the state. There's a catastrophic teacher shortage.
Where's Ron?
Oh, he's in Ohio to talk about his fight against 'the woke.'
@LqLana
The GOP-sponsored legislation that has made it virtually impossible to get an abortion in most of the country has created such a hostile environment for ob-gyn physicians that they have created maternal health care deserts for millions of women.
@TeaPainUSA
Voting for Joe. He’s been a great president. With slim or no majority in Congress, he gets stuff done—stuff so popular that Republicans run on it after voting against it. And he’s been effective in strengthening NATO, which is important for global security. His ability. . .
@meredithshiner
Just saw James Lankford of Oklahoma on TV saying that he wasn’t going to let the actions of one man interfere with the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Never mind the right our children should have to be safe at school. Found myself screaming at him in inchoate rage. 😡
Wanted to stand up and cheer listening to Ambassador Michael
@McFaul
’s spirited defense of Col Alexander Vindman on Rachel Maddow Show. Ambassador McFaul knows him and has worked with him. Am so grateful to those who are not intimidated by the Trump-Barr-McCarthy smear machine.

Tucker Carlson has begun singing the praises of authoritarian government generally and of Vladimir Putin’s governing style in particular. Why is Fox allowed to broadcast pro-authoritarian propaganda on military bases?

If Jesus walks among us, he’s probably spending time with the same people he hung with over 2 thousand years ago—people most of us ignore: the poor, the homeless, those with mental health or substance abuse challenges, those of questionable reputation.
@JoJoFromJerz
One of mine is when I hear someone say “the amount of people.” It should be “the number of people.” For things that can be counted use “number”; for things that can be measured use “amount.” For example, “the number of cookies” and “the amount of coffee.”

And the low level of critical thinking out there—the inability of so many people to spot a straight-up lie, as well as the willingness of many in the right-leaning media to tell truly dangerous lies, which they endlessly repeat.
@EnglishRedBird
@OmarRiverosays
I am concerned about the direction of the country, but it has nothing to do with the President, who is doing a great job. It has to do with the Supreme Court, the two terrible minority leaders in Congress, and the percentage of the U.S. population who believe baseless lies.
@southsilva
@comicsdaughter
The tweet doesn’t say it’s been passed. Right now it’s a bill. We do have a Democratic Governor who, I am certain would never sign such a bill into law, should they get it through the legislature. Now, the GOP doesn’t have a veto-proof majority, but we have to keep it that way.
@ACoupleOkooks
I am worried about Florida. DeSantis has people terrified that if they vote, they will be subject to all kinds of legal and fiscal scrutiny. Please, Floridians, don’t allow yourselves to be intimidated.
@JayBuchalter
@therealZNO
@krassenstein
Like Georgia and every other swing state—audited multiple times. Some states Trump won were even audited. No voter fraud was found that would have altered the election results. The suits filed suggesting election cheating were dismissed for lack of evidence. Biden won.
@DefTechPat
Thinking about the American colonials versus the British army. The colonists were defending their homes, their families, their freedom, their destiny. British probably just wanted to go home.
@DonLew87
Yeah, so did Josh Hawley (Stanford undergrad). Ted Cruz went to Harvard Law (Princeton undergrad). An Ivy background isn’t worth much if you have no character.
@thejackhopkins
What about the people in the states who plotted to send the fake electoral college delegates to vote for Trump, even though Biden won the vote in their state? Is that criminal, and if so, state or federal crimes, and will there be accountability for them?
@noriaaahj
But the “pro-life” party, backed up no doubt by the new far-right Supreme Court majority, will probably still work to keep the sale of assault weapons legal. That what keeps making no sense to me.
@cmclymer
@MuellerSheWrote
Thank you, Joe Biden. He has such integrity. He knew that Kamala is great, that she is ready to be President, and he executed his generous act of relinquishing power perfectly. And she has been perfect. She responded with gratitude and humility. It might have felt chaotic, . . .
@RealSnarkyLee
@Strandjunker
Members of the Confederacy tried to create their own country and elected a president who was Jefferson Davis, not Abraham Lincoln. They marched under a flag that was not the U.S. Stars and Stripes. It was a flag we saw carried by many on Jan 6. Not a coincidence in my opinion.
@ragipsoylu
I can’t believe that I have lived to see anti-American propaganda on American TV, and millions of Americans are watching it and believing ever word. Kruschev was prophetic.
@MuellerSheWrote
I’m 76 years old, and Joe Biden is the most effective President of my lifetime. I have been a political junkie since I was in 8th grade—and I have voted GOP sometimes when it meant I could vote for a woman. But Joe is 🤩. Imagine what he could do with a Democratic House!
@thejackhopkins
I am grateful every day for what Jack Smith and his team of investigators are doing to address the great injustice that occurred on January 6 and continues to this day. God bless them all and protect them from harm. Keep angels hovering around them.
@FPWellman
@AshaRangappa_
IDK, but few people in Washington are more deserving of whatever happens to them if they are in legal jeopardy. Both squandered Ivy League educations, Supreme Court clerkships, and a seat in the U.S. Senate to serve, not the People, but themselves and their billionaire donors.
@ballsstrikes
Wish I could find this amusing. I am 75 years old. It is so depressing that I will probably not live to see a Supreme Court majority that shares my values of compassion, community, and the inherent worth of every person.
@DanPriceSeattle
I don’t begrudge the very wealthy their money, although I do believe they should be taxed at a fair rate. I do, however, deeply resent their ability to pour billions in dark money into political campaigns, so that they often pick our candidates and dictate party platforms.

@Liz_Cheney
I probably disagree with almost every policy view she holds. But I love that when Jim Jordan tried to “little lady” her that she smacked his hand away and said, “You (bleeping) did this!” I wish somebody had caught that moment on video.

I saw Marc Elias on TV one night. He said it’s important for all of us to speak up for the truth, especially with people we know. I try to do that. Not getting into any Twitter or FB wars, but when people say crazy things in my presence, I say (calmly, I hope), “I disagree.”

Oh, but Justice John Roberts of the exalted U.S. Supreme Court has assured us that everywhere in America, racism is a thing of the past. It’s why the DOJ doesn’t have to monitor voting procedures in the Southern states anymore. Isn’t that reassuring.
@KaleoRasmussen
@ambiefries
One of the key differences between government in the ‘50s and ‘60s and now is that, at least in NC, state legislators seemed more willing to fund education. Now Republicans want to cut everything, including public education, to the bone in order to keep taxes low for the rich.

It‘s heartbreaking how many desperate people there are in the world. So many have been displaced by famine, political violence, climate change.

I wish everyone in America would read “Dark Money” by Jane Mayer and “Democracy in Chains” by Nancy MacLean. Both helped me tremendously in understanding how we got into this mess. And we need to know where we are in order to find our way out. Both are fascinating reads, btw.
@OccupyDemocrats
What a week. Tucker Carlson is fired. Ted Cruz is having a terrible week. Pence testified. Trump’s attorney showed himself to be the same sort of nasty bully as his client, but E. Jean Carroll pushed back. 💪Jamie Raskin is done with chemo!🍾🙏🏻💙 And Bakhmut still holds! 😊🇺🇦💙🙏🏻

Well, it’s abundantly clear where they stand. If democracy survives the GOP purges, younger voters will strip Republicans of their power at some point. Demographics will eventually turn the tide.

The fact that Donald Trump is walking around free despite a lifetime of criminality, topped off by hoarding documents that could threaten national security in the wrong hands, reminds me that Kalief Browder spent two years at Rikers Island accused of stealing a cheap backpack.
@codeofvets
@JeffreyGoldberg
John McCain could have left the POW camp early—had he left alone, but he refused to leave without his fellow POWs. Donald Trump doesn’t see that as heroic. He just sees it as stupid. He can’t imagine giving up a comfortable life for the hardships of military service. Just can’t.

I believe that we will get rid of Trump in the next election. The problem is with all the lifetime-appointed RWNJ judges Trump nominated and

@DenisDanilovL
Hard to believe the complicity of the
@GOP
in an international cabal of dictators to enable Russia to seize territory in Ukraine, which is fighting for its life. The GOP once billed itself as supporting freedom and democracy across the world. Now they stand for nothing.
@SenWhitehouse
For me, while I find some of their decisions appalling, it’s more about how three of them got there. Gorsuch is sitting in what should have been Garland‘s seat, the FBI “investigation” into Kavanaugh was a sham, and Mitch rammed Coney Barrett thru after 2020 voting had begun.
@virjones51
@Bob_Casey
Because there are people who want voting to be hard, complicated, and inaccessible. Some in this country hate democracy. They see the electorate as a threat to them and to their property. For the long version, read Nancy MacLean’s book “Democracy in Chains.” It explains so much.
@Lyla_lilas
Weeping with this mother is probably the most powerful thing he could have done. Not a matter of strength. Strong men who are human cry, and crying over some else’s pain is very human.

The irony of that statement coming from the mouth of one of the most financially cushioned people on the planet—a multi-millionaire U.S. Senator, who will have Rolls Royce health care for the rest of his life—is rich indeed.

I have cried all day. Cried over watching French President Macron honoring American veterans. Cried my way through President Biden’s wonderful speech. But I was completely blown away by this!
@carolecadwalla
Most of us in the U. S. have no idea that any of this is happening. I read the Mueller report, and it made the little hairs on the back of my neck stand up. But most of Congress won’t even read it. And most of the public just votes Republican regardless of what they see or hear.
@Abi_Rimmer
I have practiced yoga for at least 20 years, and if a class is large enough, there will usually be some farting at some point. People need to get over their squeamishness. We‘ll all be better off.

These are really some of the worst people in the country. They have no principles, no scruples, no integrity, no ideals, and no ideas beyond getting re-elected. If you think they care about you, think again.

Years ago Christiane Amanpour made the connection between the Christian Right in the U.S. and violent religious extremists in other countries. At the time, I thought it sounded too alarmist. Now, however, I believe she was right.
@oldsargepap
Every action he takes is bookended between “I have an absolute right” on the front end and “I take no responsibility” on the other. The Republicans are so obsessed with “manhood.” This is not manhood.

I am almost 77 years old, and I have been a political junkie since I was a kid. Ike‘s inauguration is one of my most vivid memories of childhood. I have never seen so many former members of any other administration come out against a former president like this. Ever.

Given the chance, most Republicans in Congress would gladly do away with Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the ACA, and most other programs that help regular people. Their goal is to cut taxes to the bone—not for you and me, but for the rich donors who finance their campaigns.
@ClaudeP65994331
@CalltoActivism
Republicans show us every day that they are unfit to govern. They care nothing about democracy, decency, or the rule of law. Their only goals: (1) cut taxes for the rich in order to keep the big donors happy and (2) ensconce themselves in power in perpetuity.
@Ta_Lon
@wojiaoLaoDen
I think you’re mistaken about NC being among the 10 poorest. It’s possible you’re thinking about South Carolina. Also, we are not as “red” as SC. Because of gerrymandering, we have a GOP-dominated state legislature; however (thank the Lord), our excellent Governor is a Democrat.
@AnnaBower
@MuellerSheWrote
Democracy is disappearing before our eyes. Republican-dominated state legislatures are voting in measures that give them extraordinary powers, powers they are taking away from the voters. And don’t expect the SCOTUS to help us, not if recent decisions are any indication.
@OccupyDemocrats
The behavior of Donald Trump is antithetical to the loving Christ of the gospels. Trump is a liar, a con artist, and a serial sexual predator. Alex Jones made millions slandering the grieving families who had just buried young children. These people are disgusting. Shut it down.
@MartyTa94849826
They ignore the fact that he tried to overthrow the government. They ignore the fact that he has said we should do away with the Constitution (which he swore to preserve, protect, and defend in 2917). No ex-president in history has ever presented such a threat to our country.
@ZagamaMas
@cassandra17lina
John Brennan has spoken out emphatically against the abuses of the Trump administration. Trump has denounced him and pulled his security clearances.
@thejackhopkins
If I recall correctly, a reporter asked Jordan on January 6, “Have you talked to the President today?” He hesitated and finally said, “I talk to the President most days.” Other questions were met with, “Buh duh, buh duh, buh duh . . .,” which I took to mean he was in on the coup.

I am completely disgusted with CNN. Most of what’s come out of Donald Trump’s mouth tonight has been lies and projection. Is there going to be any attempt to fact-check him on CNN?
@BlackKnight10k
Trump is the first American president who refused to concede the election when he lost. He did lose. The courts said he did—63 judgments against him. The recounts said he did—in every contested state. His own top election officer and his own Attorney General said he did. He lost.
@Lyla_lilas
The Russians have always targeted civilians. In the early days of the war, the Russians bombed a maternity hospital, killing and injuring laboring women, as well as newborn babies and the women who had just given birth to them. Putin is a war criminal.

Trump’s tax cut of 2017 was geared towards helping the rich. It’s structured so taxes will go up—but mostly for working and middle class. He promised a new health care plan—what happened to that? He and McConnell want to end Soc. Sec. and Medicare. Do your own research.
@23Stanzas
@CharlesFinch
The disrespectful way he spoke to Senator Amy Klobuchar was inexcusable. Only a white guy with an Ivy League background could have survived having behaved as he did during a hearing to determine whether he was qualified to become a Supreme Court justice.

This is like Trump’s saying that the Supreme Court should look into Hillary’s emails. I remember the moment I heard him say that as a Presidential candidate, and I realized he knew nothing about the Supreme Court, and that he probably didn’t understand the role of the President.
@danbenbow
I think Joe Biden is the most effective President of my lifetime. He has accomplished so much already, even though he took office at a time of great contentiousness. I think Biden will be ranked higher as time passes.

Obstruction was starting to be less effective? Shutting the government down less popular? I dunno. Nobody on the planet wastes more time and money or makes more noise doing jack than the Republicans in Congress.
