Yesterday we achieved a jury verdict against the City of Chicago for failing to maintain its bike lane at 745 N Milwaukee (photo). Our client struck the base of a broken post (below) in 2016 & sustained a "shattered" kidney. Verdict exceeded $287,000.

UPDATE: After we spoke, the SA's office decided to up the charges. Driver now is charged with improper overtaking of cyclist (felony), aggravated reckless driving (felony) & aggravated use of comm device (misdemeanor). Really happy with SA & ASA's focus and dedication on this!
Spoke today w/ an ASA in a downstate county about charging a driver who was staring at his phone when he hit a man biking on a rural road causing serious injury. She had been unaware of IL's VRU statute which could bump charge to a felony. ASA's need to be informed of this law.
