Tennessee has signed what 6 of the top 100 players in the portal and Vandy hasn’t even signed one. The one they got they couldn’t even keep. Corbin refusing to use the portal or not having enough NIL to use it effectively is going to kill this once proud program

What a masterful job by Corbin. He has his team once again peaking at the right time. The hitting is heating up and the pitching is settling into defined roles and pitching well. He is truly the best coach in the country

Before last season a Texas fan on twitter told me NIL would be the end of Vandy Baseball as Vandy wouldn’t be able to recruit at a high level anymore. I wonder how that fan feels after watching Kozeal absolutely blast the longhorns today.

Shout out to Murphy, Mcelvain, and Maldonado who have all three been awesome. They have seen their roles change and adapt this year due to injuries to other guys and they have all been great at doing whatever the team needs of them. They’re a big reason we’ve won in the CWS

If you’re a great hitting coach this is an attractive job. Davis, Austin, Barczi, Holcomb, and Kozeal with hopefully a healthy Maldando is a good core. Supplement that with the portal and you could have a good offense year 1.

The problem is if we lose this one it’s a 1 or 2 win season most likely and that kills all the recruiting momentum. How will the talent level ever increase if Lea can’t convince kids to come to Vandy? That’s why CJF 6-7 year one was huge.

I think this Wake Forrest game is the biggest game of the year for Vanderbilt. Winning it improves the record from last year and shows definitive progress the program is making. Also at home against an ACC team we used to regularly beat when Vandy was rolling.

Vandy basketball should be good this year. They won’t have a big as good as Robbins but should have more depth than last years team with the guys they brought on from the portal. Plus a Lawrence, Manjon, Smith core is very solid.
