nowhere in the Bible does it say that God protects us from all evil and harm. We are free thinkers and actors and make our choices, God allows that. However He is always there when needed. Our sin and SIN has failed us, not God. It is up to us to ask for our sins to be forgiven.

I actually am. It is disheartening a lot of atheists that I talk to had bad church experiences. the people in the church hurt them and it is God's fault as they leave that church to hate God. They get comfort from other atheists in similar positions.

does he recognize he is a sinner in the sight of God? Sin needs to be repented from. If he becomes a Christian then he has peace with God and his sins are forgiven and he won't face hell. Salvation isn't just saved from hell but each day served for God according to his word.

a bible is a personal book written by God for each person. Bibles have hilites and tears and underlines and writings all over it. If I wrote a love letter to someone and saw their reaction with tear stains, hilites and underlining my heart would melt with satisfaction.
