I think the fact people expect other TTRPGs to be as familiar to them as D&D is exactly why we need MORE diverse games that don’t use 5e and why I’m excited for the changes

has made to Pathfinder.
This is honestly such a bummer. No drow, no owlbears, no magic schools, and so much of the fantasy we have come to know and love is gone. I always enjoyed that Pathfinder felt comfortable and relatable to me, it made it easier to understand and get into the world.

In my experience the biggest culprit is time. Adults have a limited amount of free time and you’re not just competing against other APs. You’re competing for time over cable, sporting events, streaming services, hobbies, and live events irl.

The ttRPG industry chews up creatives, burns them out, and drives them away.
If people stay complicit in doing this (both fans and the business side), things will never improve by as much as they need to.

Let the player narrate what made their character miss.
I've found letting players have a little bit of agency in their failed rolls makes it feel like a little less of a downer and keeps them engaged in a bit of fast RP around the moment. (1/3)

I think more APs need to embrace the fact that their main audience simply can’t watch live. When I switched to treating our live shows as just the recording session and then releasing everything as an edited podcast it tripled our audience on both shows. (2/2)
