One of the first high schools I've seen in Kansas do this en masse.
Kansas is a Bible Belt state. There are people in the community that will hate these kids for doing this.
That's why it took courage.
If you're still playing high school basketball in Kansas after tonight, you've made past (at least) half the rest of the state.
You've come this far. Maybe you're willing to go a little further.
I love Sub-State Week.
The Friess Family has had a fall to remember.
Gage has quarterbacked Parsons to two playoff wins. Gracen medaled at state tennis. And Kurt has won more games in his first season as head coach of the Vikings than the program had in the previous six seasons combined.
Jeff Schibi (

On Wednesday, his wife gave birth to their son, Jeffrey James. On Thursday, he helped guide his alma mater to its first playoff win in 42 years.

Never understood how claims of election fraud could be believed but now I get it!
In all sincerity, this is one of the greatest honors I've ever received in my lifetime and I'm more than humbled by the entire Kansas community.
Nena Taylor of Parsons dropped 35 points against Wichita-Collegiate.
That's a career high for the senior and also matched Collegiate's entire scoring output.

I wanna give a shoutout to

He was a graduate assistant on the staff that won it this year.
As a man and a friend, he's always been loyal, hard-working & compassionate.

My latest column...
@KSHSAA
fixed an adult problem by barring fans from games to start the winter sports season.
Now those fans can have a time of reckoning.
There's plenty to digest in this screengrab from
@j_lenard
of Bre Bedore's buzzer-beater:
• Kurt Friess and his wife looking nonchalant
• Tristan Gegg calling Bre Bedore's shot? (If anybody would know, it's her)
• Anthony Albertini's freak out
• Bedore's eye of the tiger

This year's senior class for the Parsons Vikings will never know a life where they didn't make it to state.
With tonight's sub-state title, the Vikings have qualified for four straight state tournaments.
I have deep-seated insecurities about how I'm perceived in my area. I've always wondered if I truly have any friends.
The last 24 hours have completely changed that. The community response and number of people dropping off meds, goodies, etc. has been overwhelming.
